    • Verna L. Adrian, (nee LaPlante) passed peacefully May 5, 2013. Age 97 years. Resident of Eastcastle Place. Beloved wife of the late Alan Patrick Adrian. Loving mother of Patti Schmidtke and Judi (Fred) Stadler. Proud grandmother of G.P. (Katie) Schmidtke, Jami (Chuck) Kilpatrick, Neal (Tanti Lina) Conley, Colleen (Peter Lindberg) Conley, Kathlyn (John) Albert and Michael (Neda Esmaili) Stadler. Great-grandmother of Alex, Jack, Lilia, Landon, Kiran, Phillip, Lucia and Liam. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

      Verna was very active and enjoyed life to the fullest. Along with her late husband, Alan, she was an avid golfer, enjoyed curling, and competed in many bonspiel tournaments. Verna and Alan also played bridge on a regular basis, and participated in a dance club in their early years. Verna volunteered in her church, as a Girl Scout leader, and was an active member in the League of Women Voters. Additionally, she was a co-founder of a women's book club that met for over 50 years, and was a proud member of the St. Gabriel Stampers. Verna will always be remembered and for her eternal optimism and will be missed by all who knew her.

      In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association .

      Please join Verna's family as they celebrate her life with a Memorial Service at Eastcastle Place - Lindsay Hall, 2505 E. Bradford Ave. Milwaukee, WI on Thursday, May 16 at 11 a.m. Private inurnment St. Mary's Cemetery, Appleton, WI.
