  • Notes
    • John and Nellie were part of the homesteading era in Rudolph. They bought one of the first parcels of land located on 5th Avenue now known as Holland Road. John came to Rudolph with only an oxen and a horst. He built a home and then went back for his wife. Traveling to his land was not easy. At that time the trees were very thick and travel was by horse and wagon. The lumberman had been through the area earlier to harvest the very large trees. When clearing his land and constructing the buildings he needed, John burned many of those good size trees. It was a period in time when everyday needs were hard to accomplish. Everything was done by hand. There was no electricity, indoor plumbing nor was anything moterized.
