Van Straten, Lorraine M.
Lorraine M. Van Straten, of Shiocton, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Kindred Hearts in New London. Lorraine was born in the Deer Creek Township on February 9, 1920, daughter of the late Noah and Louise (Lorge) Surprise. She lived in Shiocton and was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church. Lorraine married Gordon Riehl in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1977. In January of 1983, she married Dale Van Straten. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was employed by the Shiocton Kraut Factory for 15 years and retired from Voith Fabrics in Appleton.
Lorraine is survived by two sons: Glenn (Marion) Riehl, Shiocton and Kieth (Kris) Riehl, Shiocton; a daughter-in-law, Loretta (Len) Bellile; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husbands, Lorraine is preceded in death by three sisters, a brother, a son Ralph, a daughter Suzanne Roloff, a daughter-in-law Karen Riehl, and a grandson Jessie Joe Griesbach.
A special thank you to Bill and Cheryl Van Straten for the company they gave Lorraine and also a very special thank you to Heartland Hospice and especially to the staff at Kindred Hearts.
Funeral services for Lorraine will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church, Shiocton. Entombment will be in the Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
