    • In June of 1848 Arnold and Johanna Ebben came to the U.S.A. on the ship named Amerika. Father VanDerPoel brought 94 passengers. They sailed from Rotterdam bound for Philadelphia. They landed after 48 days at sea. Their destination was Brown County, Wisconsin. The proceeded at once by rail to Albany, New York, then via Erie Canal to Buffalo and from there it took one week by an old steamer named "Michican" to Green Bay.
