- Raymond F. Coenen, 79, Town of Vandenbroek, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. He was born May 25, 1935, son of Peter and Laura (Hietpas) Coenen. On May 24, 1955, Ray was united in marriage to Margaret "Maggie" Biese. Ray and Maggie ran a dairy farm for several years before starting their own business, Coenen Transit Inc. Ray ran the trucking business and was also on the Vandenbroek Fire Department, serving as chief for several years. He loved woodworking and made many different projects for his family and friends. Ray truly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maggie; his daughters: Cheri Coenen and Lori (Dave) Vosters; 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Jessica, Jason, Gregg, Sara, Billi Jo, Tony "Bud", Nellie, Emily and Katie; 10 great grandchildren; sisters: Alice (Dick) Vande Hey, Laverne (Richard) McCarthy and Marilyn Van Dyke; brothers: Norm (Rose) Coenen, Lloyd (Julie) Coenen, and Doris Carlson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Irene Biese, Elaine (Bob) Schmidt, Dorothy (Tim) Vande Wettering, Evelyn Verhasselt, Marian Gerrits and Nora Biese; also many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Daniel and Dennis "Fuzz" Coenen; a daughter, Peggy Baneck; son-in-law, Larry Baneck; a grandson, Charlie Baneck; brothers: Irvan (Patricia) and Wilfird Coenen; brothers-in-law: Leo Biese, Bob Biese, George Gerrits, Bob Verhasselt and Norb Van Dyke; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Clara (Arnoldussen) Biese.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday directly at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
