- Genevieve Catherine Gengler, age 89, died peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Appleton Health Care Center. Genevieve was born December 22, 1921, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine (Klein) Gengler. Genevieve was formerly employed with General Motors in Milwaukee. During WWII she made rivets and assisted in the war effort at defense plants in Milwaukee and in California. She was a self-taught musician who enjoyed playing the piano and accordion also traveling and dancing.
She is lovingly survived by her four sisters, Anna Roeland, Appleton; Rose Mueller, Appleton; Helen Schommer, Freedom; Rita (Patrick) Roche, Appleton; twenty-four nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Genevieve was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Gengler, a sister, Marcella Schmidt, four brothers-in-law, Merle Schommer, John Roeland, Hubert Mueller and Robert Schmidt, and a sister-in-law, Georgine Gengler.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2926 State Road 47, Mackville, with Deacon Ray Ambrosius officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery. Genevieve's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund is being established for St. Edward Catholic Church.
