  • Notes
    • Age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Adeline was born May 19, 1915 in Freedom, daughter of the late Theodore and Catherine (Vanden Heuvel) Vandenberg. She married Gerald Huven on July 1, 1949 at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death on March 3, 1977.

Adeline was a woman of profound faith who devoted herself to prayer, caring for her parents in their aging years, and then to her husband and her own children. Her family meant the world to her. Many will remember Adeline’s beautiful garden, which she maintained for many years, as well as her excellent baking skills. Her pies and Saturday morning “sticky buns” were the best!

Survivors include a daughter: Barb (Tony) Zwiers of Sherwood; two sons: Ken (Chris) Huven of Iron River, Michigan and Tom (Kathy) of Little Chute; six grandchildren Molly and Melissa Zwiers, and Mike, Ross, Kayla, and Sara Huven; a brother: Arnold Vandenberg of Kaukauna; three sisters: Minnie Murphy of Kaukauna, Margaret (Marvin) Vander Velden of Little Chute, and Mary (Bob) Weyenberg of Menasha; a brother-in-law: Bill Kussow of DePere; two sisters-in-law: Renata Vandenberg of Little Chute and Betty Vandenberg of St. Paul, Minnesota. Adeline is further survived by Jerry’s sisters and brother: Lorraine (Eugene) Heindel of Kaukauna, Marion (Gerard) Wilde of Marinette, and John (Dorothy) Huven of Green Bay, as well as Jerry’s sister-in-law: Rita Huven of Green Bay. Adeline also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Norbert Vandenberg, Edward (Betty) Vandenberg, Herbert Vandenberg, and Raymond Vandenberg, as well as by sisters Clara Vandenberg, Frances Vandenberg, Vi Kussow, and Johanna (John) Anderson. She was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law Harriet Vandenberg and two brothers-in-law Lloyd T. Murphy and Cyril Huven.

The funeral liturgy for Adeline will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2002 at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue in Kaukauna with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 8 PM and again Friday at the church from 10 Am until the hour of the service. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at the funeral home at 7:30 PM Thursday.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at the St. Paul Home as well as to Dr. Stephen Dernlan. Mom could have been in no better hands. Thank you all so very much.
