Bayer, Catherine Marie
Catherine M. Bayer, nee Haen, age of 86, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, early on January 5, 2009, and has gone home to the Lord. She was born on February 9, 1922, one of the seven children to Martin and Hattie Haen of Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Catherine's tenacious spirit and "Can Do" attitude are a few of the greatest gifts that she has left with her children. She will be deeply missed. There is rejoicing in heaven as she is now at home with the Lord. Alleluia! For we know that in the 2nd Corinthians 5:8 we are told "... Absent from the body, present with the Lord ..." Catherine lived a very creative life, always involved and always innovative in making her rugs and quilts out of seemingly impossible things, a fore runner to the whole "green" recycle movement. She enjoyed running her "Cathy's Busy Bee" as a way to help out people when they needed a bit of extra help. Catherine enjoyed collecting things, especially jewelry and dolls.
Catherine is survived by her children: James Herbert (Jeanette) Bayer, Constance Marie (Tim) Friesen, and Ellen (Andrea) Camozzi, all of Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren: Regina (Robert Mayer) Bayer, Michelle (Darren) Richeson, Hugh (Liz Garvey) Bayer, Cynthia (Kevin) Klein, Richard (Jennifer) Bayer, Colorado, Shane (Heather) Swamer, California, Aaron Friesen, Canada, Mary Friesen, Robert Friesen, Canada, Michael Konitzer, Gina Camozzi; ten great-grandchildren: Jack and Christian Richeson, Max and Val Bayer, Brittany, Heather and Cassandra Klein, Hunter Mayer, Zachary Swamer and Lukas Bayer. Catherine is further survived by sisters-in-law: Hazel (Bernard) Haen, Vivian (William) Bayer, Betty (Leonard) Bayer, Margaret (Cy) Berg, and Betty (Martin) Ebben.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert James Bayer; her parents, Martin and Hattie Haen; three sisters: Mae, Martha and Dorothy; and three brothers: Bernard, Arthur and Clement.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
