- Gerald J. Nytes, "Jerry", Kaukauna, age 83, died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 following a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was born on June 30, 1929, in Kaukauna, son of the late William and Mildred (Brown) Nytes. He served in the Korean Conflict from March 1951 until December 1952. Jerry married Betty Bernard on June 6, 1953. He was employed at Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill from 1948 until retiring in 1990. Jerry enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards and traveling. He was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club, Elks Lodge #962, American Legion at Wrightstown, Post #436, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kaukauna, Post #3319, and Appleton Coated Quarter Century Club.
Jerry is survived by 2 daughters: Nancy Ross, Kimberly and her daughters, Christina, Stefanie, and Brianna; Lisa (Keith) Fassbender, Kaukauna and their children, Megan (Chris) Bayorgeon, Melissa, and Kyle Fassbender; 2 great-grandchildren: Quintin and Collyn Bayorgeon. He is also survived by a sister, Cleo (Hilary "Switch") Swiechowski, Menasha; 2 sisters-in-law: Alice Nytes and Betty Ribarchek, a brother-in-law, Tom Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty; sisters: Geraldine and Morcile; brothers: Eugene, Donald, Cletus, and Jack.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 2401 Main Ave., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
