    • Margaret Ann Kempen, 87, Kennan, died Sept. 25, 2006, at Ladysmith Nursing Home in Ladysmith.

      She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Kennan, the daughter of John and Mary Weyers. She was married to Louis Kempen on April 20, 1938, in Kennan. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Catawba, and had served as president of the Altar Society. She was a licensed cheese maker and worked for a number of years with Louis making cheese. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, social events, baking and really enjoyed playing cards.

      She is survived by five sons, John, Nenana, Alaska; Kenneth (Ruth), Waukesha; David (Denise), Kennan; Daniel (Sue), Bruce; and Lee (Merry), Pewaukee; by five daughters, Lorraine (Harold) Mustard, Irma; Diane (Larry) Peroutka, Neenah; Carol (Merv) Rafko, Hubertus; Ann (George) Kruppe, Hartland; and Pat (Rick) Vollendorf, Hawkins; by 41 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her husband Louis on Dec. 2, 2000; by two infant sons, Louis and Wilbert; by one grandson Kyle Kempen; by five sisters, Clara Weyers, Martha Kurth, Agatha Kurth, Cecilia Kerkhoff, and infant Mary; and by seven brothers, Bill, Ben, Leo, Joe, Frank, Ray and infant Henry.

      Funeral services were held Sept. 30 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Catawba, with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the funeral Mass. Interment was in Kennan Cemetery.
