Age 70, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 1996. He was born September 16, 1925 in Dale, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth [Habel] Seif. Jos enjoyed boating and camping with his sons. He was a former owner of the Flagstone Bar and the Normandy Super Club. Later on he was an insurance agent for Garot Christmas and IBS Insurance Agencies. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moosem a third degree in the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Harvey Pierre VFW Post 1778. Joe served in the United States Navy during World War II. He enlisted July 21, 1943 and was discharged March 13, 1946. He served on the U.S.S. Steven D.D.49 amd served as Gunnersmate 2nd Class.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise [Jeske] Deif, Kaukauna; a son, Jeff and Shelly Seif, Neenah; three brothers; Melvin and Helen Seif, Kaukauna; Nolan and Mary Seif, Kaukauna; Claude Seif, Appleton; three sisters; Madlynn Redzinski, Kaukauna; Louise and Al Wuyts, Kaukauna; Florence Siewert, Appleton; three step grandchildren; Cassie, Kyle and Justin. He was also survived by his mother in-lkaw, Josephine Jeske Werth, Manawa; two step daughters; Laura Wiater and friend, Norman, Seymour; Stacy Wiater, Appleton; two step sons; Scott Wiater and friend, Candy, Appleton; Stephen wiater, Appleton; two brothers in-law; Rev. John Van Der Horst, Breen Bay; Jerry and Shirley Jeske, Ogdensburg; three sisters in-law; Rose and Ted Verkuilen, Little Chute; Louise Van Der Horst, Kaukauna; Laverna Seif, Kaukauna; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Van Der Horst; two sons; Joe and Dave; a sister, Bernice Cottrill; and a brother, Earl Seif.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9. 1996 from St. Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Gillsdorf and Rev. John Van Der Horst concelebrating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, Little Chute from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the services. The Moose Lodge ritual will be at 6 p.m. Thursday and the VFW service will be held immediately following the Mass.
