  • Notes
    • Delores Catherine (Valentine) Kneisler,"Dolly", 89, a prior 30-year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Oct. 5, 2011, from complications due to a stroke. Born in Outagamie County, Wis., in a country home, she was reared around the Green Bay area. She graduated from Antigo High School and went to work for the phone company. She later married her husband, John, in 1945, after a long courtship while he was overseas during World War II. After spending eight years in Plymouth, Wis., she and her husband moved to Cal. with their three children. In 1957, she went to work for Hughes Aircraft Company as an assembler, in order to buy a new refrigerator. She got the refrigerator 10 years later and retired from Hughes, now Boeing, after 23 years of service. Her career encompassed numerous positions within the Company. She and her husband lived out their retirement in Terra Bella, Cal. where Dolly, an accomplished seamstress, was one of the founding members of the Porterville Quilt Club, which is 60+ members strong today. She organized club donations of baby quilts to battered women's shelters. Using her quick wit, she loved to tell jokes and play cards. She was everyone's favorite character.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Steve Stigers, Garfield, Ark.; son and daughter-in-law, John and Debbie Kneisler, Castaic, Cal.; six grandchildren, Lester Lehigh, Lori (Lehigh) Damann, Brent Kneisler, Jolene (Kneisler) Mathias, James Kneisler and Nicole Kneisler; eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa Cardwell, Lacey Lehigh, Kari Damann, Krista Damann, Tim Damann, Laine Kneisler, Cora Kneisler and Noah Mathias. She is also mourned by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Oscar; and daughter, Jane Ellen (Lanny) Lehigh; her parents, Eli and Helen (O'Connor) Valentine; her siblings, Luella, Emmett, Florence, Leland, Bernetta and Mary. Services will be private with family members.
