    • 69, Appleton, entered eternal glory at Appleton Medical Center on Dec. 6, 2012 after a six-week battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Carl was born on February 7, 1943, the son of Edwin and Leona (Harm) Techlin. He became a child of God through Holy Baptism on March 7, 1943 and was confirmed at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church on April 14, 1957. Carl graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1961. After graduating from Fox Valley Technical College, Carl was employed at Consolidated Freightways where he worked for 39 years. He served in the Army National Guard 32nd Division from 1964-1970. Carl married the love of his life, Betty Ann Bast, on Oct. 16, 1965 at Emmanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in New London, WI. After retiring from Consolidated Freightways, Carl was involved in many volunteer activities at his home congregation of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. He especially enjoyed time spent at the cottage on Brekke Lake that he and Betty built in 1977. Traveling was another blessing Carl and Betty enjoyed, with memorable trips all over the United States, England and France. His 8 grandchildren were a great source of joy for Carl and many special memories were made with them at the cottage and while attending their activities. Carl was a God-fearing, patient, soft-spoken and loving man who could fix almost anything and always enjoyed working on a challenging project.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edwin and Leona (Harm) Techlin; his sister, Joan Drews; his sister-in-law, Patricia Techlin; his parents-in-law, William Bast and May Bast Glasenapp.

Carl is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Ann; his daughter, Cindy (Jeremy) Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac, and son, Bradly (Dee Ann) Techlin of Brookfield; his eight grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Hannah, Rachel, Lydia and Joshua Thiesfeldt, and Carley, Emily, Alyssa and Jessica Techlin; a sister, Janet (Ted) Daelke; a brother Fred Techlin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Jane Bast, brother-in-law Ivan Drews; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Carl will be held at 11 am, Tues. Dec. 11, 2012 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church (302 S. Morrison St.) Appleton with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Friends may call at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 from 5 - 8 pm and on Tues. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church from 9 am until the time of service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family who prayed and offered their support during this difficult time. A heartfelt thank you to the 7th floor oncology staff at Appleton Medical Center for their excellent and tender care of Carl and his family.
