      Adrian, Alan P.
      Alan Adrian Ph.D, 92, died Friday, March 28, 2008. He was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Kaukauna, son of John and Anna (Van Dyke) Adrian. Alan married Verna LaPlante Dec. 31, 1942, recently celebrating 65 years of marriage together. Mr. Adrian was a member of St. Mary Parish, Appleton. After graduating from Lawrence University with a B.A. in chemistry, Alan received a Masters and Ph.D from the Institute of Paper Chemistry. He devoted his career to Neenah Paper Company as Technical Director, and later as Operations and Development manager of the Neenah paper division of Kimberly-Clark. Alan was on the Board of Directors of the Neenah Paper Company prior to Kimberly-Clark's acquisition, and was proud to continue in that capacity. Alan and Verna have been longtime members of Ridgeway Country Club as well as the Appleton Curling Club. He enjoyed golfing, curling, swimming and happy times at the family cottage on Waubee Lake. Alan was a member and had been president of the Neenah- Menasha Kiwanis Club and a member of the Appleton Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was a Faithful Navigator, and current member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Allouez Assembly #1199, along with past president and current member of Lakeside Tappi. A past member of the Neenah-Menasha Elks Lodge #676, he also served as a member of the Neenah Vocational School Board of Directors. Alan and Verna's retirement years were spent volunteering as red coats at Theda Clark Medical Center and as members of the RSVP tutoring program. Additionally, they enjoyed traveling. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
      Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Verna; two wonderful daughters, Patti Schmidtke and Judi (Fred) Stadler; granddaughters, Jami (Charles) Kilpatrick, Colleen (Peder) Conley-Lindberg, and Kathlyn (John) Albert; grandsons, G.P. (Katie) Schmidtke, Neal (Tanti) Conley, and Michael Stadler; three great-grandchildren and a great-grandson soon to be born, Alexandra Kilpatrick, Jackson Schmidtke and Lilia Lindberg.
      Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at St. Mary Parish, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass.
      In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for the Neenah-Menasha Kiwanis Club and the Parkinson Foundation.
