Geurden, Tammy A. Tammy A. Geurden of Reno, Nevada, formerly of Oshkosh, passed away Friday September 1, 2006, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. She was born on October 3, 1967, at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C., the daughter of David L. and Sharon M. Geurden. Tammy graduated from Lourdes High School in 1985. She went on to get her bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1993 and her Masters Degree from UW-Whitewater in 1997. Tammy spent much time working with developmentally disabled people at various agencies including RCDD in Oshkosh, REM in Madison, and Easter Seals in Reno, NV. Her patience and kindness to these people was extraordinary. She was currently working on her doctorate degree and was nine months from completion. She studied piano for many years and played memorable songs at her grandparents funerals. Her two Shih Tzu dogs, Spencer and Sophie, and her two cats Sadie and Sunshine, were an important part of her life.
In 2000, she moved to Reno, Nevada. She enjoyed playing her piano, downhill skiing, water skiing, and karaoke. She was always remembering family, current friends, and friends from many years ago with birthday cards or other greeting cards.
Tammy is survived by her parents, David L. and Sharon M. Geurden, Winneconne; a sister, Stacy (James) Papendorf, Oshkosh; aunts and uncles: Roger (Donna) Geurden, Kimberly; Clyde (Linda) Geurden, Menasha; Mary Thompson, Menasha; Randy (Chris) Geurden, Appleton; Gerald (Janice) Van Zeeland, Kimberly; Mel (George) Zelinski, Granbury, TX; Melvin Van Zeeland, Appleton; Janice (Don) Gloudemans, Kimberly; and Gary Van Gomple, Darboy; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: George and Josephine Van Zeeland, and Martin and Lucille Geurden; aunt Mari Jo Van Gomple; nephew Ethan James Papendorf; and cousin Linda Van Offeren.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday Sept. 14, 2006, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church (210 Pleasant Dr.) in Winneconne with Fr. LeRoy Smet officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of mass. A memorial fund has been established at the Oshkosh Community Foundation.
Tammy, you touched so many lives with your kindness. We love you and will miss you very much. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
