- Agnes M. Welter, 94, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, where she spent the last three years, on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Agnes was born in Kimberly, on November 12, 1919 to the late John and Frances (DeGroot) Ketels. On December 31, 1949 Agnes married Harold Welter; He preceded her in death in May, 2000.
Agnes had many interests. Agnes was a Charter Member of St. Thomas More. She was a longtime member of the Nickel "A" Model-A-Club. Agnes liked to embroider and she was an avid reader. She was a flea market fan and enjoyed searching for treasures at estate sales. Agnes always looked forward to springtime so she could get her hands in the dirt, planting and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a lover of chocolate and always available to taste test any sweet treat within a 50-mile radius!
Agnes is survived by her daughter, Carol (LeRoy) Brockman; her son, Robert Welter; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a very special nephew, Walt (Mary) Kreitling; dear friends, Rod and Kathy DeFord, as well as other relatives and friends.
Preceding Agnes in death are her parents, her husband, Harold; a son, James Welter; a brother, Henry Ketels and his wife Ann; a sister, Ida Ketels and a daughter-in-law Judy Welter.
Friends and family may call at the church from 10:00AM until the time of service. Funeral services for Agnes will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. A private burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
