Gmeiner, Joan Marie (Forster) Joan Marie Gmeiner (Forster), 76, Lakewood, formerly of Appleton and Green Bay, passed away on Nov. 9, 2007. Joan was born in Appleton on April 3, 1931, to the late Rudolph and Anna (Stein) Forster. She lived most of her life in the Appleton and Green Bay areas, retiring to Lakewood in 1992. On Aug. 1, 1953, she married Robert Gmeiner, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2001. In addition to taking care of her family, Joan had worked as a jewelry sales clerk. She loved playing bridge and socializing especially with the "Red Hat Society."
Joan is survived by three sons, John (Donna) Gmeiner, Townsend; Greg (Julie) Gmeiner, Appleton; David Gmiener, Appleton. She is further survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Bob Gmeiner (special friend, Julie), Appleton; Ben (Hannah) Gmeiner and their children, Jacob and Andrew, Neenah; Terri (Dennis) Borchardt and their children, Abbey and Seger, Lakewood; two sisters, Helen North, Winston-Salem, N.C. and Marion Gunther, Menasha; one brother, Hub Forster, Appleton; and nieces, nephews and friends.
The visitation is on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2007, at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11 a.m. Fr. David Schmidt is officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
