St. Nicholas Rites Held Friday for Jacob Van Camp Sr.
Jacob Van Camp Sr. of Freedom, age 95, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 1996, at Outagamie County Health Center. He was born January 23, 1901 in Freedom and farmed there all his life. He married Regina Schuh on November 26, 1929 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 1986. Jake and Regina were lifetime members of ST. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Both were baptized, married and buried at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Survivors include four daughters and sons in-law, Aurella and Robert Coenen of Freedom, Virginia and William Herrick of Appleton; Ann and Clair Forseth of Algoma; Mary and Dan Kreutzberg of Minnesota; two sons and daughters in-law, Jacob Jr. 'Dumpy' and Darlene Van Camp of Freedom; James and Janice Van Camp of Freedom; 41 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Van Camp of Freedom.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Anne [Weyenberg] Van Camp; a grandson, John Coenen; a sister and her spouse, Nellie and Mike Whitman; five brothers and their spouses, John and Minnie; Frank and Lena; Hank and Minnie; Babe and Marie; and Willie Van Camp; a sister in-law, Deb Van Camp.
The funeral service was held Friday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom with the Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. The Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna assisted the family with arrangements.
