- Margaret Magdalen Resch, age 91, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011. She was born in Menasha on January 27, 1920, the daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth (Luniak) Resch. Margaret graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School. She worked for American Can Company for over 40 years until her retirement. Margaret was a lifelong, devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and bingo and traveling to the casino. Margaret had a wonderful talent for writing verses and she was always known for being a very happy person.
Margaret is lovingly survived by her sisters: Priscilla Resch of Menasha, Dorothy Zielinski of Menasha, Armilla (Robert) Jankowski of New London; nieces and nephews: Tom (Carol) Resch of Appleton, William (Chris) Resch of Neenah, Michael (Mary) Resch of Menasha, Kathryn (Mark) Schierl of Menasha, Lynn (Michael) Swenberger of California, Maureen (Richard) Williams of Kentucky, Mary Jo (Donald) Gayton of California; sister-in-law, Leone Resch of Arizona; several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers: Edward Resch, Irvan (Gen) Resch, Wilfred (Elsie) Resch, Ambrose (Marge) Resch, Marcellin Resch and sister, Kathleen Resch.
Margaret's family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Appleton Health Care Center, especially Stacey and Heidi, Margaret's best friends, Brenda and Mike Kobs and Sharon Beyer as well as her niece, Kathy, for all her love, care and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. The committal will be held at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Margaret's name.
