Hietpas, Arthur P.
Little Chute
Age 84, died Monday, February 3, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, with his family at his side. He was born December 26, 1918 in Appleton; son of the late William P. and Margaret (Verhagen) Hietpas. Arthur married Irene M. Timmers, February 5, 1946 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 4 years spending 2 of the years in the CBI Theatre (China, Burma and India) in Calcutta, India during World War II. Arthur was a member of the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post #258, Little Chute and a charter member of the World War II Memorial. He was a graduate of St. John Catholic School and a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Arthur was a prominent building contractor in the Fox Valley area for nearly 30 years. After retirement he spent many years traveling in their motor home, attending army reunions and visiting friends and relatives across the U.S. He enjoyed playing cards, doing yard work, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Irene; two daughters: Susan (Ceylon) King, Menasha; Jean (Scott) Hietpas-Ohrstrom, Mill Valley, California; five sons: Charles (Ellen) Hietpas, Little Chute; Kenneth Hietpas, Kaukauna; Jeffrey Hietpas, Appleton; Gregory (Demi) Hietpas, Dunedin, Florida; Todd (Pattie) Hietpas, Combined Locks; 15 grandchildren: Jennifer (John) Elrick; Sara (Carl) Peluso; Patrick, Erin, Stephanie, Josh, Fletcher, Tyler, Austin and Evan Hietpas; Carie and Zakk King; Katie (Michael) Falk; Ashley Weser; Morgan Ohrstrom; four great-grandchildren: Brandon, Alyssa, Claire and Xavier; four brothers: Paul, Owen (Irene), Mark (Gladys) and Dennis Hietpas; two sisters: Margie Hietpas and Betty VanderSanden; two sisters-in-law: Betsy and Rita Timmers; a brother-in-law, William Mattern and special friend Sandra. William was preceded in death by a brother, William (Yvonne) Hietpas; three sisters: Shirley Mattern, Patricia (Henry) Tatro, Bernice (Ted) Larson; brothers-in-law: Casey VanderSanden; Norbert, Jerome and Robert Timmers; sisters-in-law: Ethel and Ruth Hietpas; Mildred (Florian) Smith and Lucille Timmers.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating, followed by full military honors by the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2:30 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
