      Lieut. Eugene Thiel
      Are War Casualties
Two young officers of this area figure in today's casualty news. They are Lieutenant John Geigle, 25, of Little Chute and Kaukauna, killed in action Aug. 7 in France, and Lieutenant Eugene L. Thiel, route 2, Hilbert, missing in action over China.
The telegram announcing Lieutenant Geigle's death was received Wednesday afternoon by his wife who lives at Little Chute. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Geigle, 610 Meade street, Kaukauna. Lieutenant Geigle, who was with the infantry, was previously reported missing in a telegram received Aug. 25. Enlising in October, 1939, he served for 20 months in Alaska. He was transferred to the European theater of operations in March of this year.
Survivors besides the widow, the former LaVerne Look, and the parents, are three sisters, Mrs. George Wurdinger and Miss Margaret Mary Geigle, Kaukauna, and Sister Mary Ambrose, teacher in Little Chute and two brothers, Frederick and Leo, Kaukauna.
A memorial high mass for the officer has been arranged for 9 o'clock Monday morning at St. John church, Little Chute.
