      Age 89, died Saturday, September 21, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Ileta was born on June 16, 1913, in Wrightstown, to the late Frank and Rose (McCabe) Ehnerd. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, Green Bay, and Lawrence College Conservatory of Music and prior to her marriage taught music at Abbott-Pennings High School in DePere. Ileta married Sylvester “Coonie” Esler on August 16, 1940; he preceded her in death in 1977. With her husband, she owned and operated several entertainment and hospitality venues in the area, including Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay; Nitengale and Rainbow Ballrooms; High Cliff Amusements; and the Hotel Appleton. Ileta enjoyed her summer home at the Chain-o-Lakes in Waupaca. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her son, Jim (Linda) Esler, Appleton; her grandsons, David (Gail) Esler, Gray’s Lake, Illinois; Stephen (Kelli) Esler, Fresno, California; James Esler, Appleton; and Andrew Esler, Green Bay; and her great grandchildren, Logan and Katelyn Esler. Private funeral services will be held. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in her name.
