- Robert J. Kettenhofen Grand Chute
Age 76, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2002 at Theda Clark Medical Center. Robert was born on May 27, 1925, son of the late Peter and Leona (Krautkramer) Kettenhofen. On May 27, 1952, Robert married Dolores Gerrits at St. Pauls Church in Wrightstown, WI. He graduated from Wrightstown High School, and then attended U.W. Stout, Technical Division. Robert was an instructor at Fox Valley Technical Institute for 20 years. He was also employed at the Kimberly Clark Corporation, where he retired in 1985 after 31 years. Robert loyally served his country during World War II as a torpedo- man in the U.S. Navy. He was a member and Past Commander of the Urban Klister American Legion Post 436; a Past Brown County Legion Commander; and a member of the Appleton Harvey Pierre V.F.W. Post 2778. Robert was also a member of St. Pius X Parish, Appleton. He enjoyed visiting his cottage, reading, and watching the Packers and Cubs.
Robert will be greatly missed by his wife Dolores; 3 children, Jeffery (Dolores) Kettenhofen, Waukesha, WI; Timothy (Lynn) Kettenhofen, Appleton; Jill (Brian) Kerhin, Green Bay; his sister, Dorothy Zelzer, Kimberly; 4 grandsons, Jason, Eric, Samuel and Jacob Kettenhofen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Amede Van De Vyver, Kimberly; Russell Titel, Wrightstown; Roger Gerrits, Maryland; Norma Buechler, Wrightstown; Gerald Gerrits Jr. and Mary Jane, Greenleaf, Wisconsin. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gerald Gerrits Sr.; mother-in-law, Leona Gerrits; 2 sisters, Mary and her husband Joe Novitski; Helen Van De Vyver; 2 brothers-in-law, Lynes Zelzer and Kenneth Buechler; and his sister-in-law, Carol Titel.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 15, from 4 until 8 p.m., and again at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bobs family extends sincere thanks to Dr. John Keegan, M.D. and the 5th floor staff at Theda Clark. Special thanks to the many home care nurses, aids and caregivers for their time spent with Bob for the past 16 ½ years.
