  • Notes
    • Marvin John "Marv" Vander Velden, 82, Little Chute, was reunited with his wife, Marge, on Friday, May 27, 2011. He was born in Little Chute, on Sept. 21, 1928, to the late George T. and Agnes Ann (Williamson) Vander Velden. Marv married Marge Vandenberg on Sept. 30, 1950, at Holy Cross Parish. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2009, after 58 years of marriage. Marv graduated from St John High School and furthered his education with four years of vocational school.

He worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 42 years with a four year break to serve his country in the Armed Forces. He served as Treasurer of Local Union #147 for 29 years. He belonged to the Quarter Century Club and received many safety awards. He retired in 1990 as an assistant machine shop foreman.

Marv liked to bowl, golf, play cribbage, watch westerns, read and has created many great woodworking crafts. His hands were never idle. He liked to spend time at his trailer at Geano Beach, where he and Marge loved to perch fish together and made many great friends. He also loved to garden and when he could no longer go fishing, he would barter his vegetables in the summer and his cleaned hickory nuts in the winter for perch. He was a generous and caring person who always bragged about how proud he was of his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
