Esther V. Hietpas

Age 85, passed to her Heavenly home with her children all around her at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 1998. She was born of November 17, 1912 the youngest child of Martin and Harriet [Berghius] Van Handel. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Esther worked at home as a wife, mother and home maker. She enjoyed planting and caring for her flowers in the summer, creating beautiful crewel and embroidered pictures. When we would ask her what she enjoyed most the last year, she would say, 'praying her rosary'. Esther married Nicholas H. Hietpas on November 23, 1937.
Survivors are her five children; three daughters; Betty Vandenberg, Darboy; Irene [Leo] Biese, Darboy; Pauline [Gerald] De Groot, Little Chute; two sons; Harley [Carol] Hietpas, Dan [Susie] Hietpas, both Little Chute; 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister; Genevieve Feldkamp, Kaukauna, a sister in-law; Rose Hietpas, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas in February 1994; a grandson, Joey H. Hietpas; a great granddaughter, Valerie Kay Biese; a great great grandson, Justin Vandenberg; two sons in-law, Gordon Luniak and Francis Vandenberg; four brothers and sisters in-law; Joseph and Kate Van Handel; George and Frances Van Handel; Barney and Verna Van Handel; Norbert and Zepora Van Handel; two sisters and brothers in-law; Ann and Fred Behling; Mary and Joseph Van Groll; a brother in-law; Norbert Feldkamp.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 1998 [today] at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute, with Rev. Msgr. Vanden Hogen officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 3 p.m. to the time of the service. Verkuilen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arraingments.
