Freiburger, Cecile B. "Cele" Cecile B. "Cele" Freiburger, of New London, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, in New London. Cele was born on October 13, 1917, in De Pere, daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Guerts) Brys. Cele grew up and attended schools in Little Chute and then attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She graduated from Bowlby's Business College in Appleton. On September 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Arthur C. Freiburger at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. He preceded her in death in 1993.
In her younger years, Cele served as a proof reader and bookkeeper. After raising her family, she worked as secretary to the New London Chamber of Commerce and later was Executive Director of the City of New London Housing Authority.
She is survived by a son, Peter (Eileen) Freiburger, Waukesha; five daughters: Mary Freiburger, Waukesha; Ruth Freiburger, Wrightstown; Jean Freiburger, Wrightstown; Elaine (Paul) Gillis, La Crosse; Ann (Dan) Kuntz, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren: Stephen (Madeline) Freiburger, Laura (Doug) Kotowski, Meghan, Claire and Emily Gillis and Sophia Kuntz; a great-grandson, Milo Freiburger; sisters-in-law: Laverne Brys, Helen Adelmeyer, Ann Griep, Lucille Freiburger, and Joyce Freiburger. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and lifelong friend and bridge partner Phyllis Johnson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cele is preceded in death by sisters: Henrietta Miron, Marie Gerrits, Angeline Liles, Betty Brys; and brothers: Louis and Gerard Brys.
Funeral Mass for Cele will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at 11 a.m., Most Precious Blood Catholic Church Gymnasium in New London; Fr. David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
