Baeten, Gordon Gordon Baeten, 82, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2006, at a local Hospital. He was born on October 1, 1923, to the late John R. and Theodora (Jacobs) Baeten in Wrightstown. Gordon married the former Rosella VandenLangenberg on May 29, 1948, at Holy Trinity Church in Pine Grove. She preceded him in death on March 8, 1991. Gordon drove truck for Leights before purchasing his farm in the town of Denmark. He also hauled milk for Steve's Cheese. His greatest joy was farming, along with playing cards, listening to old-time music, visiting with friends, and watching his grandchildren grow up.
Gordon is survived by four children, son Kenneth (Jean) Baeten, Denmark; and their daughter, Brenda (Joe) Curtis and their children Connor and Karlee; daughter, Rosemary (Lloyd) Schott, Denmark and their two children Michael (Nicole) and Luke, and Michelle and her fiance, Brandon Wotachek; daughter, Theresa (Jay) Nesvacil, Bellevue and their children, Maureen and Cora; and daughter, Lois (Bill) Mommaerts, Denmark and their children, Bill, Katie, Tricia, and Nick; and his brother, Alwin (Shirley) Baeten; sister-in-law, Shirley Baeten, all of Humboldt; and sister-in-law, Betty VandenLangenberg, Bellevue.
Gordon was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Norman, Bernard (Lorraine), Clayton (Betty), and Eugene; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Beatrice (Robert J.) Janssen, Bernice (Lawrence) Vanden Plas; In-laws, Marion (Robert) Rentmeester, Leonard and Richard VandenLangenberg.
Visitation will be on Monday at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 East Mason Street, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parish prayer and scripture services will be on Monday, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Merkatoris and Rev. Gilbert Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.
