Verstegen, Elizabeth J. (Beth) Elizabeth J. Verstegen, age 78, of Little Chute died November 5, 2006, at Carolina Manor in Appleton. She was born in Little Chute on December 8, 1927, to the late Peter and Josephine (Jansen) Bevers. On September 3, l945, she married Jerry A. Verstegen at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. They enjoyed 19 years of marriage until his death. On November 23, 1965, she married Merlin R. (Spike) Verstegen at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah. They were married 23 years until his death in 1988. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty's love for her family was unconditional. We thank God for having Betty in our lives.
Elizabeth is survived by seven children: Cliff (Jo) of Kaukauna; Greg (Carol) of Little Chute; Ken (Mary) of Little Chute; Mark (Cathy Trueba) of Madison; Mike (Jane) of Appleton; Julie (Scott) Brann of Chicago; and Brad (Renae) of Appleton; 18 grandchildren: Jerry (Jen), Scott (Rachael), David (Amy), Ben (Wendy), Joe (Joyce), Jamie, Jenny (special friend Brad), Brent (Paula) Servin, Nathan, Angela, Tim, Lucas, Paul, Laura, Kayla, Carly and Andy Brann and Bodie Verstegen; 11 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Jack, Griffin, Alyse, Mitch, Kara, Kayla Hartfield, Grant, Leo and Justin and Abigail Servin. She is survived by her sister, Sandy (Leo) Coonen, her brothers, Donald (Catherine), Les (Betty) Bevers; sister-in-law, Artese Verstegen and brother-in-law, Jack Mathis. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to husbands Jerry and Merlin and her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Willard and Helen Verstegen; sister, Laverne Mathis, brother-in-law, Tom Verstegen, brother and sister-in-law, Barbara and Peter Lingl, Margaret and Red Schlack, and Grace and Bud Revoir.
The Funeral Mass will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2006, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday until the time of Mass directly at church. Committal St. John Cemetery. The family extends a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Carolina Manor.
Mother, you were a gift from God and we now know that you are at peace.
