Van Rossum, Henry M. Henry M. Van Rossum, 85, De Pere, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at home with family members by his side. Henry was born Oct. 14, 1921, to the late Peter and Dorothy (Van Lannen) Van Rossum. He married Luella Ambrosius on June 18, 1946, and they were blessed with seven children. She preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1981. On April 19, 1991, he married Gert McDaniel, who survives him. Henry farmed his entire life on the family homestead. He enjoyed fishing trips, driving tractor and the companionship of his farm dogs. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and father who loved his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; sons, Richard (Bonnie), Dennis (Carol), Mike (special friend, Mary), Lyle (Theresa) and Scott (Joni); a daughter, Lisa (Joe) Draves; son-in-law, John (Mary) Fiers Jr.; a brother, George; a sister, Loretta (Melvin) Green; sisters-in-law, Rose Van Rossum, Bernice (Willy) Van Wychen, Germaine Ambrosius, Mickey Ambrosius and Carol (Richard) Peters. He is further survived by Gert's children, Mary (Dan) Loos, Donna (Myron) Schuette, Ken (Cher) McDaniel, Gordon (Linda) McDaniel and Steve (Ann) McDaniel. Henry and Gert had 30 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Luella; daughter, Bonnie Fiers; grandchildren, Patti and Andy Van Rossum; a great-grandchild, Zoe Fiers; brothers, Adrian (Ella), Charles (Harriet), Norbert and an infant brother, William; his sister, Bertha (Ed) Van Domelen; brothers-in-law, Wilfred Ambrosius and Harold Ambrosius; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Robert) Miller, and Ruth Van Rossum.
Henry's Mass of Christian Burial will be 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2007, at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, N 5589 Cty. Rd. E, De Pere, with Rev. David Kock and Parish Director Cinde Becker co-officiating. Friends will be received at church from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
