Schommer, David R. David Schommer, 60, Kaukauna, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, following a two weeks illness with cancer, at his home. He was born July 2, 1946, in Appleton, son of Ferdinand and Doris (DeLorme) Schommer. David married Irene Brownell, February 4, 1967, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was employed at Badger Northland for 13 years and Valley Transit for 22 years. He loved model cars and real cars, only Chevy's, his cat O.J. and his job as a bus driver. He was badge #72 at Valley Transit. He had two wishes: 1. To retire and 2. To see his new house on August 15, 2007.
David is survived by his wife, Irene; his children: Lisa (Jim) Garnett, Little Chute, and Mark Schommer, at home; four grandchildren: Angela, Zandria, Tabitha and Victoria; two sisters: Annette Schommer, Appleton, and Mary Jo West, Kaukauna; niece and nephews: Jenny Schommer, Chris and Matthew West; and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, with Fr. David Funk, O.F.M. Cap officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Crandon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the service.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Garden View Assisted Living, Pensar Electronic Solutions, Valley Transit, Heartland Hospice including his nurse, Nathan, and everyone else that sent their love and prayers.
