- Stephen Ourada, 2 1/2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ourada, Combined Locks, drowned Thursday in the Fox River near his home.
Playmate Sees Friend Drown In Fox River
Combined Locks -- As his playmate watched, 2 1/2-year old Stephen Ourada, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ourada, 205 Darboy Road, Combined Locks, slopped into the Fox River about 5:30 p.m. Thursday and drowned.
The body was recovered about 7 p.m. Thursday about 300 years downstream by Robert Nechodom, Little Chute police chief, and Henry Vanden Heuvel. Attempts to revive the boy by mouth-to-mouth respiration failed.
According to Coroner Bernard H. Kemps, Stephen and his playmate, Robert Van Thiel, 2 1/2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roman Van Thiel, 223 Darboy Road, were playing in the Ourada yard about three blocks from the river.
When Donald Ourada missed his son about suppertime, he searched the neighborhood and the Van Thiel boy told him, "Stevie fell in the water."
Ourada ran toward the river stoping Kimber policeman . . .
