Lamers, Irene M.
Irene Lamers, 89, Little Chute, formerly of Appleton, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Irene was born September 19, 1919, in Appleton, daughter of William and Clara (Eberhardt) Van Ryite. Irene married Robert T. Lamers in September 1939, and he preceded her in death in August 1972. Mrs. Lamers was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, and was actively involved with the St. Elizabeth Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Moose Club. Mrs. Lamers was employed at Gimbels/Marshall Fields for 18 years, retiring in 1991. She was a wonderful mother and caregiver for many and opened her home for extended family. Irene had a great love for her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Lamers is survived by her son, Ronald "Mart"(Chris) Lamers, and daughter, Laurel "Cookie" (David) Stuck; grandchildren: Joanie (Mark) Johnson, Billie (Kristie) Stueber, Bobbie (Debbie) Stueber, Travis Nickel and special friend Stacy, Kathy (Steve) Schepp, Sue (Jim) Hammen (god daughter), Beth (Chad) DeLeeuw, Anne (Brian) Rosin; 17 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Celeste Lamers, Cecil, and Marion Lamers, Appleton; special nieces, nephews, god children and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Lamers was also preceded in death by a brother, Ed (Rosemary) Van Ryite; two sisters: Margaret (Robert) Schmit and Betty (Ron) Geurts; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Family and friends may call at the church from 2:30 p.m. Thursday until the time of the mass.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Jack Meyer, and his staff; "special nurse" Audrey Driessen; St. Elizabeth's second floor and 4West staff, and Drs. Baum and Buttar . Thank you also to the St. Paul Home and staff, and Theresa DeMerit for bringing mother communion, and special neighbor Betty.
