![]() | Beverly "Bev" Schuh | May 1, 1937 ~ October 21, 2024 |87 Years Old Beverly J. Schuh, age 87, of Freedom, peacefully passed away on Oct. 21, 2024 with her 5 children by her side after enduring progressive dementia for the last several years. She was born on May 1, 1937 daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Hecker) Coenen. On Oct 4, 1958 she married Jerry Schuh. She and Jerry were blessed with 59 wonderful years together before Jerry's passing in 2017. In the early years Bev worked at GMAC then after completing her most important job (raising her children) she returned to the workforce in the insurance industry. In her retirement years she worked at Van Eperen's assisting during tax time. Bev took pride in being "Grandma". All of the grandchildren have fond memories of birthday shopping with Grandma, pinatas every Easter, and the annual summer journey in the motorhome to Bay Beach. Bev had a full and rich life that included traveling and socializing. On many a Friday night you could find Bev at Buzzs enjoying a fish dinner, a Rye and Di with mushrooms, and plentiful conversation with everyone there. She was an early form of "extreme shopper" known to go to many locations to save some money. Bev was a generous person with her time and treasure contributing to the local TOPS Chapter and the Freedom Historical Society among other worthy causes. Bev and Jerry were also very generous to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bev is survived by her loving children: Karen Kaphingst (Ken Stellmacher), Kathy (Marv) Spierings, Karol Peterson (Ken Krause), Kevin Schuh (Donna Mesenbrink), and Konnie Schuh; grandchildren: Nikki (Mike) Vesperman, Erin (Jude) Simons, Amy (Pete) Fitschen, Brent (Maggie) Spierings, Brittany Frank, Brooke Spierings (Tex Kerker), Jill (Cory) Ihde, Ben (Taylor) Peterson, Ryan (Sarah Howard) Schuh, Alissa Schuh (Josh Mitchell), and Riley Schuh; 15 great grandchildren: Evie, Miller, Natalie, Marshall, Weston, Lydia, Brieyel, Bristyl, Braxtyn, Dawson, Morgan, Camden, Mason, Collin, and Josie; siblings; Carol Jadin, Betty Mato, Gary (Karen) Coenen and Dave Coenen; in-laws: Sharon Schuh, Betty (Carl) Evers, Jean (Al) Tiedt, Darlene Haase, Bill (Lynda) Schuh, Pat Hansen, Joyce (Al) Garvey, Dave (Kay) Schuh, Rick Schuh, Nancy (Randy) Smith, and Joe (Darla) Schuh; many other family members and special friends. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry's parents Wis and Gen Schuh: sons-in-law: Dave Kaphingst, Jim (Morgan) Peterson; sister: Donna Ambrose; in-laws: Neil Jadin, Jonnell Coenen, Merle, Dan, Bernie, and Carolyn Schuh, Daryl Haase, and Al Hansen. The Christian funeral service for Bev will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, WI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, Freedom location from 4-6 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday morning at the church from 9 AM until the time of mass at 11 AM.
