McCabe, Howard P. "Howie" Howard P. "Howie" McCabe, of Kaukauna, age 80, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Howie was born in Kaukauna on July 20, 1925, to the late Daniel and Jenny (Urling) McCabe. On April 15, 1950, he married Germaine C. Martzahl at Holy Cross Church. Howie graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1942. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, he briefly worked at Thilmany Paper Mill. For the next 29 years he proudly served for the Kaukauna Fire Department. After retiring he served as 3rd ward alderman for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Germaine; his children: Dan (Linda) McCabe, Kaukauna; Sarah VanMun, Kimberly; William McCabe, Kaukauna; Kathleen (fiance Shawn Demerath), Kimberly; Patricia McCabe, Philadelphia; Mary (Todd) Roovers, Kaukauna; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris McCabe; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy McCabe of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold; and a sister, Lorraine (Sr. John). The memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna with Fr. Bob Vandenberg officiating. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Full military burial rites will take place at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
