for Edward Bankert
Edward R. Bankert of 369 Roger Street, Kimberly, age 87, died Saturday, December 11, 1993, following a lingering illness.
He was born December 19, 1905, in Adams, North Dakota, the son of the late Theodore and Louise (Fritch) Bankert. Ed served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a Watkins Dealer from 1932 until 1967, when he and his wife moved to Merrill.
In 1973 the couple returned to Kimberly, where he was employed at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home until his retirement in 1984. He had been Town Clerk for numerous years and a volunteer fireman for the Town of Vandenbroek. Ed was involved in Boy Scouting for over 50 years, receiving the Distinguished Silver Beaver Award and Distinguished St. George Award. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly, and William Verhagen Post No. 60 of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Irma (Hoffman) Bankert; a daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Bill Erdmann of Kimberly; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Gary) Frassetto, Jolene (John) Vosters and David Buettner; seven great-grandchildren, Scott, Michael and Abby Frassetto; Nicole, Amie, Benjamin and Kevin Vosters; one sister-in-law, Lucille Bankert of Oshkosh; one sister, Marcia Wheeler of Oshkosh.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Martin, Eugene and Roy.
Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly, with the Rev. Brian Shimon officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Bankert's name.
