Williamsen, Genevieve M. "Gen" "Gram"
Genevieve M. Williamsen "Gen" "Gram" 98, Green Bay, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at a local nursing home. She was born Feb. 24, 1911, to the late Frank and Lucille De Coster in Green Bay. On May 4, 1931, she married Stephan Williamsen, in Green Bay. Together they raised their two sons, Richard and Ronald in their home on Buchanan Street in Green Bay.
Gen was a strong and confident woman with a generous spirit and caring heart. A loyal friend, those who met her quickly discovered her wit and grit were accompanied by a feisty sense of independence much larger than her 4'6" status would indicate. Her grandchildren, who Gen adored, soon learned it was best not to mess with Gram. The consummate wife, mother and grandmother, Gen doted on her 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren and always made sure the candy drawer was well stocked when they came to visit.
Survivors include a beloved son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Joanne Williamsen, Green Bay; her grandchildren, Lynda Monske (Rick), Robert Williamsen, Penny Williamsen, James Williamsen (Caroline), Randall Williamsen (Linda), Terry DeLorit, Mallory Martin (Kevin), Christine Beard (David), Charles Williamsen (Kerry), Beth Schingen (Martin), Brian Williamsen (Lisa), David Quilling; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Steve, Genevieve was preceded in death by her son, Richard Williamsen, a grandson, William Williamsen, and two sisters, Gertrude Germain and Madeline Lagers.
Friends may call at Heartland Church, 3340 Lineville Road, Village of Howard from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 14. There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate Gen's life at 12 noon Saturday at the church with Pastor Scott Werlein officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gen's name. The family would like to express a special thank you to Gen's caring neighbors, friends, Unity Hospice and the staff of ManorCare West for all the kindness and concern offered to Gen on her behalf.
