- eraldene L. Geri Van Drunen, 86, of Kimberly, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. She was born in Kimberly on March 23, 1929, daughter of the late Adrian and Jennie (Stuyvenberg) Van Drunen. She graduated from Kimberly High School, Class of 1947. After high school, she attended St. Catherine College (Dominican College) and became a sister with the Racine Dominicans for several years. She taught grade school at the time and then later in life was a secretary for Kimberly Clark.
Geri was an active member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Appleton. Over the years, she attended over 50 retreats at the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh. Geri volunteered for over 25 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital doing crafts. She was a long time member of the National Catholic Order of Foresters. Geri enjoyed her casino trips and evenings out with her friends. She was an animal lover, and had 6 dogs over her lifetime.
Geri is survived by her brother, Richard Rick Van Drunen; sisters-in-law: Delores and Betty Van Drunen; nieces: Susan Gelling and Patricia (Jeff) Wildenberg; great niece, Ashley (Josh) Zorn; great-great nephews: Owen and Hudson Zorn; and many cousins and their families in Holland.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Vincent Van Drunen and John Van Drunen, and several special friends.
Per Geris wishes, a private family burial will take place at Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly.
The Van Drunen family would like to extend a special thank you to Fr. Gerald Faulk for his many visits and kindness, to Nurse Tracy with Affinity Visiting Nurses for her home visits and her compassionate spirit, to Dr. Brian Scott and his staff for the many years of great care, to Geris special friends for the many years of wonderful friendship, and to her neighbors, especially Lennie and Ellen Opsteen and their son Christopher, for always lending a helping hand when needed.
