Martin J. and Delia E. Joosten, 248 Welhouse Drive, Kimberly, celebrated 50 years of marriage with a September 18 mass at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church followed by a dinner at Willie's Supper Club of Little Chute.
The former Delia Evers became Martin's bride September 17, 1949, at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Original attendants Raymond Evers, Freedom, and Joseph and Marion Joosten, Kimberly, were present for the anniversary gathering.
The Joostens have lived in Kimberly most of their married lives. Martin was employed by Appleton Papers, Combined Locks, for 33 years before retiring in 1980.
The couple have seven children: Betty (Bill) Courchain, S.C.; Dan (Linda), Menasha; Ken (Sue), Appleton; Debbie (Jim) Buza, Appleton; Peggy (Ken) Machlica, Wrightstown; Russ (Bonnie), Appleton; and Donna (Mike) Linzmeier, Stockbridge. There are 16 grandchildren.

Delia E. Joosten, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on October 17, 2015. She was born March 3, 1926; daughter of John and Minnie (Hietpas) Evers. She was employed at Kimberly Clark Paper Mill and Thilmany's Paper Mill during World War II. She married Martin Joosten, September 17, 1949, at St. John's Catholic Church, Little Chute. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church until Martin's passing. She then re-joined St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute.
Delia enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, playing sheepshead and bingo, as well as going on bus trips with her beloved husband, Marty. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan, but enjoyed all sports, especially high school basketball and the state tournament. Delia and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren always enjoyed spending time together.
Delia will be deeply missed by her seven children: Betty Joosten, Florida; Dan Joosten (special friend, Holly Lawton), Menasha; Ken (Sue) Joosten, Appleton; Debbie (Jim) Buza, Appleton; Peggy (Ken) Machlica, Wrightstown; Russ (Bonnie) Joosten, Appleton; and Donna (Mike) Linzmeier, Hilbert. Also her 16 grandchildren: James (Jodi) Boldt, Kim Boldt (Rodney Knoke), Timothy (Heather) Boldt, Steven Joosten, Jennifer Joosten, Andrew (Katie) Joosten, Katie (Curt) Hoernke, Michelle (Joe) Murphy, Michael Buza, Alex (Elena) Machlica, Ali Machlica (Special Friend, Zach Van Remortel), Paul (Amy) Linzmeier, Marie Linzmeier, Kara Linzmeier, Kristen Linzmeier, as well as her seven great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her four brothers and one sister: George (Celeste) Evers, Anthony (Lorraine) Evers, Sebastian "Whitey" (Peggy) Evers, Katie (Raymond) Brockman, and Donald Evers as well as sister-in-laws, Rosie Evers, Ade Evers, Martha Vanden Boogart and brother-in-laws, Ronald Beattie and Richard (Bev) Joosten.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Martin, grandson, Benjamin Machlica, brothers, Ed (Vi) Evers, Raymond (Del) Evers, Hank Evers, Gordon Evers and sister MaryAnn Beattie, as well as brother-in-law, Joe (Marian) Joosten and sister-in-laws, Elaine Evers, Mary (Hank) Gloudemans, Agnes (Art) Ebben, Minnie (Martin) Ven Rooy, and Martin Vanden Boogart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
