Gerardus “Jerry” Cops, age 87, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Living Tree Estates in Greenville, following a brief illness. Jerry was born on August 22, 1935, in ‘S-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands to the late Edmund and Theodora (Gietman) Cops. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 with the Cops family and settled in Kimberly.
At the age of 15, Jerry went to work at Tastee Bakery, where he eventually met the love of his life, Bernice Fields. He then held various jobs until 1969, when he and his brother Hank started Cops Services where he worked until retirement in the early 90’s. On July 21, 1956, he and Bernice were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. Jerry also made and fixed rosaries and restored religious statues. He collected over 177,000 pairs of shoes for the Missions. Jerry enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Crystal Lake and wintering in Florida. He was a sports fanatic and especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events – but most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bernice; seven children: Bob (Marlene), Ron (Lynn), Kathy (Tom) Courtney, Don (Linda), Mary (Mike) Kempen, Lori (Kevin) Shulfer, and Richard (Sara); 17 grandchildren: Jena (Chris) Schmidt, Trisha, Joe Cops, Becky (Chris) Loofboro, Andy (Kimberly) Courtney, Matt (Brittany) Kempen, Meghan (Micah) Woelfel, Zack, Tyler Shulfer, Rachel, Jacob Cops, Joshua (Jess), Lindsey Mittendorf, Greg (Gita), Jim (Kian), and Mike (Erin) Standish; 17 great grandchildren: Harlee, Eden, Liam Schmidt, Sophia Loofboro, Leah, Everett Kempen, baby Woelfel (October), Kylee, Kayla, Khloe, Giavonna, Gianni, Gorgio, Genevieve, Everett, Crewe, and Finley Standish; his brother, Father Gus Cops; sister, Margie Young; 3 sisters-in-law: Beverly Cops, Joyce Cops, and Ellie Vincent. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Theodora Cops, 5 sisters and brothers-in-Law: Nelly and Mart VanNuland, Mary and Peter “Bill” Havinga, Annie and Ken Schuh, Dorothy and Joseph Van Nuland, and Josie and John Vincent; 3 brothers: Father Peter Cops, Hank Cops, and Eddie Cops; brother-in-law Paul Young; and father-in-law Lloyd Fields; and mother-in-law Caroline (Schreiber) Fields; and sister-in-law Joann (Clifford) Uitenbroek.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 18th, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with Father Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel from 4 pm to 7 pm with a Prayer Service and Rosary to start at 6:15 p.m, and Thursday at the church from 9 am until 10:15 am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Living Tree Estates and the staff at Moments Hospice for the compassionate care given to Jerry.

Joan Hoerning, age 92, passed peacefully on May 11, 2023, Joan was born in Appleton on August 13, 1930, daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Gerritts) Lang. On June 13, 1951 she married Reinald Hoerning; he preceded her in death in 2010.
Joan will be remembered for her talented skills in the craft world. She was a fantastic seamstress who sewed clothes for her daughters and their dolls. She had other interests and talents which included ceramics, knitting and needlepoint. Her favorite pass time was spending time at the family cottage in Sugar Camp, Wisconsin.
Joan is survived by three loving daughters: Christine (Gary) Kreft, Connie Hoerning, and Carrie Gromacki; two grandchildren: Daniel (Tracy) Heinritz and Julie (Jake Schwinger) Gromacki; and a brother-in-law Bruce Stelow. There are also several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law Gary, her siblings Ken (Lucy) Lang, Rita (Joe) Griesbach, Mary Jane (Jim) Oliver, Ted (Joyce) Lang, Joe (Nancy) Lang; a great-granddaughter McKenna Heinritz, and a sister-in-law Kareen Stelow.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, located at 1810 N. McDonald Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Entombment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund to honor Joan’s memory is being established. |

Abigail "Abby" Elise Tuma, age 20, met her heavenly Father on Monday, May 15, 2023 after a four year and 4 month battle with brain cancer. She was born on February 21, 2003 to Steven Tuma and Kerri (Riehl) Tuma.
She is survived by her mother, Kerri; sisters, Laken and Maddie; father and step-mother, Steven and Rachel; sisters: Piper and Isla; significant other, Ben Papendorf; grandparents: Harold and Jane Tuma; step-grandparents: Dave and Sherry Walker, Scott and Billie Jo Rice; aunts and uncles: Jodi (Paul) Mathe, Sarah (Salvador Cummings) Riehl, Michael Tuma, Randy Tuma; and Julie (Collin) Docter; cousins: Elizabeth, Emilie, Josh, Salviesha, Ashanti, SJ, Akeelah, Bailey, Peyton, Autumn, Braedon, and Holden
She was preceded in death by her sister, Katelyn Tuma; grandparents, Patricia and Wesley Riehl; cousin, McKenna Tuma.
Abby was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Center. She attended Seymour High School for her freshman year and in 2021 graduated from Shawano High School. Abby went on to attend UW-Lacrosse for Accounting. She loved volleyball, was on several teams including: Shawano and De Pere's club teams, Shawano's High School team where she was the team captain her senior year. Abby also coached 7th and 8th grade volleyball at Seymour. She was awarded the WIAA Spirit of Sport award in 2021 and regional section 4 Spirit of Sport award for her courage and spirit while battling brain cancer.
Abby enjoyed life on the lake, including fishing and catching turtles with her sisters, tubing, wake boarding, kayaking, campfires and hanging out in the sunshine on the dock. She was a crafter, and enjoyed making posters for events, and crocheting. While in treatment she spent her time putting together puzzles and playing cribbage with her Dad. She enjoyed hunting with her family and went on several successful hunts for deer, elk and bear.
She loved life and lived it to the fullest by creating a bucket list. Abby and Ben enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Jamaica, Colorado, and Washington while trying to make her way through all 50 states. She attended many concerts with Ben, trying on wedding dresses, going to Wisconsin Badger Volleyball games, and watching the Bachelor. Her adventures also took her waterskiing, parasailing, and she even flew a plane. She really liked taking "Speedy Sandy" out for a drive to go visit with friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 19th, 2023 at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark Gartner officiating. Burial will take place at the Shiocton Bovina Cemetery.
Abby requested that everyone wear something yellow to her funeral. Memorials in honor of Abby are appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Jim Linskens, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born on March 13, 1930, in De Pere to the late Joseph and Rita Linskens. Jim served in the army during the Korean War. His time in the service brought him to both Germany and Rome where he saw the Pope. He retired from Schneider Transport after 40 years of service.
Jim was dedicated to his family who were so important to him. He loved a good game of cards and would play 24/7 if he could find the players. Hunting camp with Jimbo and the guys was never a dull moment. He enjoyed his family trips to Boulder Lake, numerous hunting excursions, traveling to California, and the Colorado River. He also enjoyed volleyball and booyah cookouts. He had a passion for walking in the mall, around De Pere, even petting a deer on one of his walks.
Survivors include his seven children, Dan (Sherry) Linskens, Karen (John) Erickson, Jeanne (Randy) Russell, Judy (Mike) Treml, David Linskens (Karla), Dale (Carol) Linskens, Shari Linskens, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Bob, Jack, and Bill.
Karen retired but made taking care of Dad one of her priorities and Judy as well when she retired. Our family cannot thank you both enough for your selfless devotion to our Dad. Thank you to special caregiver Laura Peters, AKA: The Babysitter, you made our Dad smile every day. Our family will be forever grateful for your kindness, care, and compassion that you gave to him.

Nancy Lauer, 71, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 25, 2023, surrounded by prayer and the love of her family and friends. She was born on March 16, 1952, in Appleton, the daughter of Jerome and Audrey (Bevers) Schmidt. Nancy was united in marriage to Dennis Lauer on June 14, 1974, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Nancy graduated from St. Norbert College in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoyed family, the Brewers and trips to the family cottage. Nancy will be remembered mostly for her love of her grandbabies and cherished family vacations. She strived to attend all her children and grandchildren’s events over the years. Nancy was the best supporter you could ever want. She was a second mother to many, serving grilled cheese sandwiches and listening endlessly. Nancy had a way of making anyone feel loved when she was around them. She was funny with a quick wit and good sense of humor; she needed it with our family.
Nancy is survived by her husband: Denny; 3 daughters: Laura (Larry Koch) Bell, Jenny (Nick) Brautigam, and Katie (Jon) Fuller; 10 grandchildren: Lexi, Tyler, Rylynn, Isaiah, Drew, Benjamin, Lukas, Fin, Soren, and Laynie; her siblings: Mike (Michelle), Dan (Ria), Karen (Pat), Barb, LuAnn (Mark), Steve (Robin), Bob (Janice), Amy (Jeff), and Lynn (Gary); brothers- and sisters-in-law: Marcia (Mike), Dave, Dick, Kathy, Karen (Dan), Lynn (Frank), Marybeth (Leon), Bob (Joannie), and Sara (Greg); many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law: Art and Betty Lauer; a sister-in-law: Terry; and her best friend: Carol Sanderfoot.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, ST. FRANCIS SITE, 433 County Rd CE, Kaukauna. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, on Friday at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.

Wanda Rae Lamers, 75, died Friday, May 26, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimers. Wanda was born on November 29, 1947, daughter of the late Warren and Hazel Dewey. She grew up in Kimberly, WI, and was a fan of sports, music, and volunteering. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for most of her life.
Wanda is survived by her daughters: Sara (Doug) Van Duyse and Lisa (Lance) Van Straten; her three grandchildren: Logan and Caden Van Duyse, and Chase Van Straten; sister: Donna (Paul) Bertram, as well as her two nieces: Dena (Bart) Shapley and Denise (Eddie) White.
Special thanks to the staff at Edenbrook of Appleton and Compassus Hospice who have cared for Wanda these past years and in her final hours.

James A. Nechodom, age 69, passed away peacefully with family by his side due to complications from heart surgery at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born in Appleton on January 13, 1954 to the late Robert and Lorraine (Vaubel) Nechodom. Jim followed his father and grandfather’s footsteps into law enforcement with a career that spanned over 40 years. He spent 30 years of his career servicing the Little Chute Police Department (Fox Valley Metro Police Department) until his retirement in 2008. He also spent time as an Outagamie County Deputy Sheriff and as an officer with the Shiocton Police Department. He continued to service the community by providing security at the Outagamie County Fair, the Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival, and WIR.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and taking his chances on scratch off tickets. Jim had a gift for gab and loved sharing stories and jokes with anyone he ran into. His pride and joy was spending time with and spoiling his three grandchildren. He earned the nickname “Quarters Grandpa” because he never arrived empty handed.
Jim is survived by his sons: Todd (Tanya) Nechodom of Kaukauna and Matt (Emilie) Nechodom of Menasha; grandchildren: Nolan, Nathan, and Grace; brothers: Michael (Pat), Robert (Debbie), Bruce (Tanya), Jeffrey (Karen), and Duane (Connie) Nechodom; and sisters: Carol Kelly, Linda Meidam, Mary (Dave) Peterson, Joann Nechodom, Debbie Nechodom, and Patty (Ron) Havel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Kevin; and brother-in-law, Michael Kelly; and nieces and nephews: Melissa, Stephenie, Brian, and Todd.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Rosalind Jane Arthur Boncher, 86, Green Bay, died peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013. Born on April 20, 1926, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Martin and LaBelle (Arthur) VanBeek. She is a 1946 graduate of East High School and the Milwaukee Beauty School. On October 26, 1946, she married Myron Joseph Boncher, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2009. Rosalind was a Girl Scout leader, as well as a member of the St. Matthew's Christian Mothers. She was one of the first women in Northeast Wisconsin to receive her private pilot's license in the early 1960's. Rosalind loved to garden and enjoyed playing bridge. She adored her books and was an avid reader. Her children described her as an excellent cook!
Rosalind is survived by two daughters, Susan Boncher Crow of Denton, TX, and Candace Boncher Medieros of Bront, TX; one son-in-law, Mike Medieros; four grandchildren, Steve Kephart, Brad Crow, Michelle Crow, and Shelly Cullum; one grandson-in-law, Reed Cullum; four great grandchildren, Steven, Rilee, Kennedy, and Braxton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dolly (Lyle) Boncher, and Lovita DeWitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; baby daughter, Marilyn, and her brother, Victor Arthur.

Green Bay - Dolly Jewel Boncher, 93, and Lyle John Boncher, 92, of Green Bay, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. Dolly was born on December 4, 1927, in Green Bay. She is the daughter of the late Martin and LaBelle (Arthur) VanBeek. Lyle was born on September 30, 1928, in the Town of Holland (Kaukauna). He is the son of Thomas and Genevieve (Leurquin) Boncher.
Dolly and Lyle married on October 27, 1951. They both graduated from East High School, Dolly in 1945 and Lyle in 1946. Dolly was trained as a beautician, though raising her three boys kept her very busy. She was also an active member of the St Mary's Mary Guild. From 1946-1948, Lyle served in the Navy Air Corps with Carrier Air Group 3 aboard the USS Kearsarge. After serving, he worked as a Mason, retiring from Howard Immel Co. They were both proud blood donors; Lyle donating over 44 gallons and Dolly over 20 gallons. Lyle and Dolly extensively traveled the United States and Canada. At home, their favorite game was Yahtzee, which they played together almost every night.
Dolly and Lyle are survived by two sons, David (Peggy) Boncher of North Fort Myers, FL, and Dan (Connie) Boncher of Green Bay, WI; two granddaughters, Jena (Adam) Nichol and Erica (Phil) Jagodinski; three great-grandchildren, Marcus and Ian Nichol, Emma Jagodinski, and a fourth on the way; and close niece, Susan Boncher Crow of Denton, TX, numerous nieces and nephews.
They were preceded in death by their son, Mark Boncher; Dolly's sister, Rosalind Boncher; stepsister, Lovita DeWitt, and her brother Victor Arthur; and Lyle's two brothers, Myron and Hilary Boncher.

Allouez resident - David Alan Van Beek, 68, comfortably passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 with family by his side. He was born on June 15, 1952 in Green Bay to the late Roger and Katie Van Beek. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. On August 7, 1976, he married Donna Hueffmeier. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2009.
David retired from Schreiber Foods after 40 years. After retirement, David found his dream job of being an at home supervisor. He enjoyed doing many things as long as it involved family and friends.
He is survived by his fiancé, Dale Vandenheuvel; children, Tiffany (Tyler) Alberts, Heather Van Beek, Roger (Emily) Van Beek, and Jason Van Beek; seven grandchildren, Ashlee, Codi, Sabrina, Trae, Parker, Caroline and Beckett; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Dale, Patti, Denis and Dawn; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dean.
Visitation will be held at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Burkel officiating. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Mark T. Boncher, 59, of Green Bay, passed away, Wednesday, November 25th, 2015, surrounded by his family, following a long illness. He was born on October 6, 1956, in Green Bay to Lyle and Dolly Boncher.
Mark graduated from Green Bay East High School and NWTC. Mark worked for PM Supply Wright Industrial for 33 years. He was an avid sailor and member of Windjammers Sailing Club.
Mark is survived by his parents, Dolly and Lyle Boncher; his brothers, Dave (Peggy) Boncher, North Fort Myers, FL, and Dan (Connie) Boncher; his nieces, Jena (fiancé Adam Nichol) Boncher who was also his goddaughter, and Erica (fiancé Phillip Jagodinski) Boncher; and many cousins.

Gary Van Zeeland, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11th, after a brief illness, surrounded by the extraordinary love of family.
Gary was born to Peter & Ceil Van Zeeland in Little Chute in 1942. Growing up, Dad told us that he was never mischievous. He claimed it was always his brothers that got him into trouble. Like the time he crossed what was Highway 41 at the time, on his tricycle, to go with his brother to visit his Grandpa who lived two miles away.
When Dad was in high school, he started a rock and roll band called “Gary Scott & the Eccos”. Since he had no clue how to play the guitar and really couldn’t carry a tune, he needed to recruit some musical talent to make that happen. The fact that he couldn’t do either of those things didn’t stop him from pursuing his passion. His theory was “fake it until you make it”. Dad would go to school during the day, work at his father’s gas station after school, and then went to perform with his band 3 nights a week. Dad was an extremely hard worker, something he learned from his father.
We always enjoyed asking Dad how he met Mom, and we’re still laughing at Dad’s re-telling of this story during his last few days (keep in mind he had all the hand gestures and eye rolls to go along with the story). He would always say, while minding his own business at the roller-skating rink at the Holiday Inn at Kelly Lake, this girl kept going around and around. And each time she would pass by Dad sitting on the side, she would look over at him and point him out to her friends. After seeing her do this so many times, he said he just couldn’t take it anymore, so he decided to give in to her flirting and go talk to her. By the end of the night, he asked her if she would like to go out on a date with him the next day, for which he then showed up 3 hours late (and blamed it all on his brother Chuck, of course). Luckily, Mom had a forgiving heart and still went out with him anyhow. From then on, it was love at first sight. On June 22nd, our parents would’ve celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
After Mom & Dad married, Dad continued working at his father’s gas station and playing in his band, but also started booking other bands into bars and nightclubs as well. He was a very hard worker, going from one job to the next, with very little down time in between. Ultimately his love and success as a talent agent took over and at age 21, he left his father’s station and started a full-time entertainment booking agency, Gary Van Zeeland Talent. This started as a side job in an upstairs bedroom in their home, and eventually grew into a business that employed 9 other agents and 3 administrative professionals. Anyone who worked for Dad would agree that he was a tough employer (his kids included); however, numerous people that had the opportunity to work for him credited his mentorship for the success in their lives as they branched out on their own in various other businesses. He instilled a strong work ethic in many. Dad served as one of the Founders/President of the International Theatrical Agents Association (ITAA) for several years and had decades of success in the entertainment world booking big name entertainment across the U.S. and overseas.
Dad was an entrepreneur at heart. Other businesses he started and successfully operated included the building of multiple apartment buildings, duplexes, developing residential subdivisions, purchasing and selling of investment properties in various locations throughout the U.S., trophy hunting booking agency, and an employment recruiting agency, to name a few.
During his life, Dad enjoyed traveling with his wife, his kids and also with his friends. Dad and Mom together had the opportunity to see and experience many beautiful places in the world. Some of the trips were for sightseeing and others were hunting excursions, which each time added to Dad’s collection of trophy mounts in his prize game room. Other passions in his life included spending as much time as possible with his kids, attending all the events we were in and always cheering us on. He also loved downhill skiing, water skiing, fishing, hunting, and just loved to be busy.
Gary and Carole never lost their passion and joy for the place it all began, and that was at Kelly Lake where they first met. They have enjoyed numerous summers at their cottage on Kelly Lake and it has always been one of their happy places. This also allowed them to spend so much time with their children and grandchildren, who also loved being at the lake. Back in the day when us kids were younger, Dad was instrumental in helping the kids on the lake form the Kelly Lake Naiads Ski Club. For years, he devoted countless hours every Saturday & Sunday in the boat pulling the kids around the lake to practice their acts for the show, and he loved every minute of it.
In 1982, Dad almost lost Mom in a horrific accident in Africa, and Dad was devastated. By the grace of God, Mom survived and Dad spent years taking such good care of her. This caretaking effort came full circle, as Mom has taken such good care of Dad over the past several years as his health problems mounted, even though it was at times very hard on her. The two of them together have shown our family the true meaning of love and devotion for one another.
Gary is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife: Carole, and his children: Jay (Lois) Van Zeeland, Kelly (Stu) Goetsch, & Penny (Joel) Grissman.
Gary was blessed with many beautiful grandchildren, named in order by age: Jordan Grissman, Becky Brown (fiancé Mahir), Kasey (Tyler) Vande Voort, Kiana Koch (fiancé Andy), Sydnie Van Zeeland (special friend Zac), Taylor Grissman, Riley Van Zeeland, Austyn Grissman and Kendra Grissman. And great grandchildren, Aubrey & Max Vande Voort.
Gary is survived by his brothers, sister and special others: Paul (Ar) Van Zeeland, Greg (Pat) Van Zeeland, Betty Jo (Gary) Hooyman; in-laws: Karen (Dave) DePagter, Cathy Metzler, Tom Metzler, Sue Van Zeeland, and special others: Daryl (Sue) Koch. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Pete & Ceil Van Zeeland, brother Chuck Van Zeeland, in-laws Harlan & Faye Metzler, & brother-in-law Johnny Metzler.
The funeral liturgy for Gary will be held at 4:30 pm on Monday, June 19th at St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church, located at 411 Vandenbroek Street in Little Chute, with Father Ron Belitz officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Church from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Dan Koster, to all of Dad’s other wonderful physicians, and last, but not least, the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital Fremont 4 for the attentive and compassionate care they provided Dad and our family in his last days.
In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, please take your loved ones out for ice cream and spend quality time together in Gary’s honor. Our Dad loved his ice cream almost as much as he loved spending time with his family.
And to our Dad: Dad, you loved us fiercely and always put us before everything in your life. Mom was so lucky to have you for a husband of almost 60 years, and we were just as blessed to have you for a Dad/Grandpa. We pray that you will continue to watch over us, as you have always done, until we meet again. And we all hope to make you as proud of us as we are of you. Love you more and most! |

Joseph “Joe” Norbert Duckett, 76, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023, after a brief illness.
Joe was born in Green Bay on July 27, 1946, to parents Norbert and Arileen Duckett. He grew up on the family farm in Maribel, oldest of seven children. After graduating from Denmark High School he attended UW- River Falls. Joe then joined the US Army and became a member of the Wisconsin National Guard for 6 years.
He married Karen Skornicka on June 24, 1967. Joe and Karen raised their children, Jeff and Jennifer, in Denmark. He began his work career as a salesperson at Montgomery Ward. He spent the majority of his career, though, in the beverage industry, working for both 7-Up Bottling for many years before moving on and later retiring from Kay Distributing.
He enjoyed vacationing with family and friends, spending many family vacations at Sand Bay in Door County and traveling to warm destinations around the US with the Goral’s. No matter where they went, he always ran into someone he knew. Joe had a legendary gift of gab until a stroke limited his ability to express himself. We are sure he is now enjoying being able to talk non-stop in heaven with his family and friends.
He enjoyed sports, both as a participant and a spectator. He was an avid golfer, a Packers season ticket holder, and a big follower of Denmark High School sports. He also gave back to the community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served on the Denmark School board for 24 years, much of the time as president.
He is survived by his 2 children Jeff (Julie) Duckett and Jennifer (Andy) Calhoun, grandchildren McCain, Brady and Kassidy Duckett and Kypton and Macynn Calhoun, siblings Dick (Lynnette) Duckett, Bob (Betty) Duckett, John Duckett, Mary Ellen (Tom) Simons, Tim (Jayne) Duckett, Dennis (Sandy) Duckett, as well as many nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents, Norbert and Arileen, Karen’s parents: Jim and Vern (Malcore) Skornicka; brothers-in-law Bob Skornicka and James Rasmussen, sisters-in-law Mary Lou (Schaetz) Duckett and Betty (Mleziva) Duckett, and niece Leah (Duckett) Gray.
Family and friends may visit at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 3425 Willow Road, Green Bay, on Wednesday, June 21, from 4-7pm. A prayer service will conclude the evening. Visitation will continue on Thursday, at the church, from 9:00am until 9:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.

Caroline Laabs, age 87, of Hortonville, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Caroline was born on May 18, 1936 in the Town of Clayton, to the late Erwin and Caroline (Schneider) Dorow. She graduated from New London High School in 1954 and she married her sweetheart, Dennis Laabs, in Dale, Wisconsin on June 30, 1955.
Caroline enjoyed cooking, polka dancing, cake decorating and reading the paper, but she especially loved gardening and spending time with her husband, family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Caroline was a homemaker, a hard working farmer's wife and a mother of five children, Brenda, Randal, Delroy, Darnel and Rhonda. She had great faith in God and was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale and served the church on numerous committees.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Dennis; four of her children, Randal (Lori) Laabs, Delroy (Bev) Laabs, Darnel (Janette) Laabs and Rhonda (Jeff) Meyer; her fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Velma (Dale) Stofferahn and Violet Litton; brother, Leroy (Sally) Dorow; sister in-laws, Edith Dorow, Winnifred Laabs, Marion Laabs and Jan Laabs.
Caroline was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda; her parents, Erwin and Caroline Dorow; mother in-law and father in-law, Robert and Agnes Laabs; brothers, Lawrence Dorow, Ralph (Elaine) Dorow and Erwin Jr. (Janet) Dorow; brother in-laws, Dorman Litton and Melvin (Nona) Laabs, Gilbert Laabs, Willard Laabs and Donald Laabs.
The funeral service for Caroline will be at 11:00am on Monday, June 26, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale, Wisconsin with Rev. Paul Ibisch officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Private internment will be in the Dale Union Cemetery.

Marion E. Riehl, age 76, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Trinity Terrace in New London. Marion was born on May 22, 1947 in New London to the late Kenneth and Mercelese (Lawrence) Tyrrell. She married Glenn Riehl on May 6, 1991 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Shiocton. He preceded her in death. Marion was a hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, reading and shopping. Marion tended her flower gardens and loved feeding the birds. One of her favorite pastimes was taking rides with Glenn and going camping. She loved her grandchildren and her cat, Tiger.
Marion is survived by her children, Gordon (Karla) Riehl and Tim (Kim) Riehl; grandchildren, Alycia (Jesse), Jacob (Cassidy), Trelee (Chris) and Katelyn; great-grandchildren, Josie and Coen and one on the way; siblings, Linda Patzlaff, Sue (Larry) Joos and brother-in-law, Kieth (Kris) Riehl. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; mother and father-in-law, Lorraine and Dale Van Straten; sister-in-law, Susie Roloff and brothers-in-law, David Patzlaff and Ralph Riehl.
The Memorial Service for Marion will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Borchardt Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton with Rev. Bradley Ragner officiating. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

Brent Frank Van Boxtel, age 58, passed away at his home in New London, Wisconsin in the early morning hours of Monday, June 19, 2023. He was surrounded by his close family and friends during his final hours.
Brent was born in Vallejo, California on October 4, 1964 and was adopted by Gerald and Janet Van Boxtel. Brent brought so much joy and passion to his family and his charismatic smile will be so greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Brent graduated from Appleton East High School in 1983 and from there went on to college at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He worked at Pierce Manufacturing for many years and continued in the metal industry for the remainder of his working life.
Brent was passionate about fishing and hunting and he also enjoyed playing softball and golf. His happiest moments were any time he could be out exploring the woods, rivers, and lakes. He was at his best when he was surrounded by nature and wildlife and that was usually where he could be found if he wasn’t working. Brent was also a very talented artist and had an amazing ability to make his nature drawings come to life.
Brent leaves behind his parents: Gerald and Janet Van Boxtel; his son, Dakota Van Boxtel; his granddaughter, Ella Rae White; his sister, Danette (Scott) Ploughman; his niece, Samantha Ploughman; his nephew, David Ploughman; and his birth brother, Tim Berry and family. He is further survived by many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa Van Boxtel, his Grandma and Grandpa Treichel as well as his infant brother, Clinton Lee.
A service of remembrance for Brent will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home until the time of the service. We hope you can join us to help celebrate this wonderful man and to share memories you have of Brent.

Marilyn G. “Sis” Fischer (Bowers) 88 passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was a resident at St. Paul Elder Services suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Wrightstown on May 24, 1935 to Elzear and Johanna (Demerath) Bowers She was a beloved twin, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
On June 7, 1955, she was united in marriage to David R. Fischer at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. She became a full-time farmer’s wife, raising their nine children while helping on the farm and taking care of the household. They shared 65 years of marriage before Dad passed away in November of 2020.
Marilyn had a gift for helping and caring for others. She enjoyed bowling, baking, gardening, playing sheepshead, traveling, reading, making puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was hard working, selfless, kind, witty, loving and fun. She will be fondly remembered for her love and laughter. She never missed an opportunity to share her beautiful smile.
Marilyn is survived by her nine children: Margie (Gene) Ebben, Mary Nechodom, Ralph (Carolyn Forde), Marcella Gonnering, Marleen Fischer, Rick (Diane), Maureen LeBoeuf, Maria (Mark) Beyer and Rodney (Julie); 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings: Butch (her twin brother) and (Marleen), Ethel Vande Hey, Joe (Leanne), Judy (Art) McCormick, Patti (Phil) Weber; in-laws: Donna Bowers and Diane Bowers; Dolores Fischer, Jerry, Mary (George) Sturm, Helene (Glen) Derks, Charlene Gyrion, John (Sue), Kay Meyers and Charles; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; brothers: Dave, Jerry and Bobby; in-laws: Ted Fischer, Vi (Frank) Gurnee, Betty Fischer, Chuck Gyrion and Gene Vande Hey; sons-in-law: David Gonnering and Jim LeBoeuf.

William "Bill" Levi Levezow was born May 26, 1932 to Lloyd and Lillian (Ely) Levezow. Gave up the Ghost at home watching John Wayne and James Arness Westerns with step-son/caretaker at his side.
It rained so hard when he was born it nearly washed out the Brickley Bridge below the dam. He was the first of the Levezows to be born in Manawa at the Hospital located at the corner of Oak and Union St. Bill, as he was known to everyone, though nieces, nephews, and many called him Uncle Bill. He lived his entire life in Manawa, most of it in the house located on Inn St. and South Bridge St.
He spent his youth living, working, and playing in Manawa. He had a paper route which he took over from his older brother, Lloyd and often used his horse, Peanut, to deliver papers. He also had a popcorn stand in the alley way by Paters restaurant, which he acquired from Vic Baldwin. He also worked for his father at Lloyd's Midtown Bar and on the farms that they owned north of Manawa. When he wasn't working, he could be found swimming, diving off the powerhouse roof by the dam. He attended Little Wolf schools in Manawa, playing basketball and football. He was on championship teams in both sports. He was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was baptized, served mass, took his first communion and confirmed. His Catholic faith was important to him until his death.
He loved to pull pranks and joke. He often told the story about jumping out of the classroom window only to be caught by the principal. After school he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War with his friend John Paters. He served proudly aboard a repair ship in the engine room. After his time in the Navy, he returned to Manawa helping tend bar and working on his father's farms. Later he tended bar at Cedar Spring and as a plumber's apprentice and furnace repair man for Otto Hodel Pluming and Hardware Store. When his father sold the Tavern in 1967 Bill purchased the Farms where he farmed with his brothers and nieces and nephews. He sold the farms in 1976 and purchased Sturm and Jensen. First, he bought out George Swede Jensen share, and then later buying Sturms share. He started the laundry mat downtown in the old Meat Market. He went on to later purchase Ed Ferg Fergas Propane business which he later expanded to include Peshtigo Propane. Bill liked to buy and sell property, houses and land. He enjoyed time at his cottage and land he purchased from his father on Franks Lane on the Wolf River north of Hortonville.
He married Jean Ann (Baldwin) in 1986 and they purchased and lived on the mill pond next door to his current residence he purchased in 2000. Bill and Jean loved to fish and canoe all over the United States and logged many miles in their RV's. They began to winter in Laughlin, Nevada, Apache Jet, Arizona and Mesa, Arizona. They were active and loved to entertain guests, both in Wisconsin and Arizona, until Jean's death in 2014. Bill retired at age 72 and later sold his business in 2006. Bill served as building inspector then as Mayor where he began the New City Hall building project and updating sidewalks. He spent his later years in the house he and Jean purchased in 2000 where he passed away peacefully with a John Wayne James Arness movie on. He shared a birthday with them. He loved westerns and the country lifestyle, especially horses. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, VFW American Legion. He liked to invest in the stock market, tracking his choices, the Price is Right, weekday Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy weeknights, Westerns the rest of the time or any show with horses or farming. Clint Eastwood, Joel McCrae, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan as cowboys he would be watching.

Bill loved to eat lunch every day at New London Family Diner. Occasionally, to Crystal Café for pie and French Onion soup. He passed time by playing solitaire, cribbage, sheepshead, pool, or feeding the birds and squirrels.
The Funeral Mass for Bill will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa with Fr. Matthew Rappl officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation for Bill will be held at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center of Manawa from 4:00 - 7:00 pm and on Friday at the church from 9:30 - 10:45 am.
We especially wish to thank PreMedical Hospice Staff. WOW, what an awesome crew from nurses to CNA, Morgan, Chaplain, Brian and our social worker, Joelle. We also wish to thank the Manawa Fire Department and rescue squad.

Thomas C Flanagan age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 25, 2023. Tom was born in Appleton on August 12, 1939, to the late Thomas J. and Beulah E. (Green) Flanagan. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1957 and graduated from St. Norbert College in 1961. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961-63 during the Korean Conflict.
Tom married Barbara Christoferson Noffke on August 26, 1989, in Door County after a lifelong friendship. Together they traveled many places in the U.S, Ireland, Great Britain, Poland and Germany. They followed the Drum Corps all summer and swing choir in the winters. They shared many memories in music theatre: Lawrence University activities, St. Norbert College musical events, plus all local musical activities. They also traveled the country following the Great American Brass Festival, making many new friends.
His career was with the Local Laborer’s Union #330, working in the Construction business. He worked with many of the top construction companies in the Fox Valley until his retirement in 2002.
Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara Flanagan; stepsons: Harold ‘Chip’ (Janice) Noffke of Appleton and their children: Katherine, Benton, Isabelle and Elizabeth; Chris (Cindy) Noffke of Madison and their children: Nicholas and Parker; his siblings: Michael Flanagan, Mary Ellen Hurst, Patrick (Brad) Flanagan, Kathleen (Keenan Behrle) Flanagan and a brother-in-law, Connor Van Doren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maureen Van Doren and a brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Hurst.
A Memorial Service for Tom will be held at 1:30 PM, on Wed. May 31, 2023, at Christus Lutheran Church (N1915 Julius Dr) in Greenville with Rev. Erik Roth officiating. Friends may visit with the family at church starting at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: Leaven, Humane Society or a charity of your choice. |

e are sad to announce the passing of Wanda Lau of Appleton. She left us at the age of 72 on May 19th, after a brief battle with cancer. Wanda was surrounded with love by her husband, Ed, her daughter Andrea, and sister-in-law, Mary. At Wanda's request, no formal services will be held. She will be missed by her family and community of close-knit friends. Her passion was helping those in need.

Helen Jane Anholzer, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 13, 2023. She was born on February 3, 1928, in Kimberly, WI to Andrew and Gertrude (Busch) De Leeuw. On September 6, 1947, Helen married the love of her life Robert Anholzer when he returned from WWII. Together, they shared four children, enveloped another daughter from Nicaragua and shared many memories during their 52 years until his passing in 2009.
Helen enjoyed spending time with family at their cottage on Lake Metonga. She enjoyed fishing, doing crossword puzzles, taking cruises and travel. She and Bob travelled extensively during their lifetime with trips to Nicaragua and Europe, as well as stateside trips to Florida and to Saginaw MI to be with their honorary parish at St Joe’s.
Helen was a gifted cook, baker and confectioner- a role she developed in her large family growing up. She loved to bake, and the house always had desserts in process. During her later years, she taught her caregivers how to cook “the right way” sitting at the side of Helen who spent time showing them all the right techniques. She touched many lives with her "Dutch determination." She had an easy smile that lit up the room.
Helen is survived by her children: Tom (fiancée Linda Vaughan) Anholzer, Hortonville, Gary (Mary) Anholzer of Crandon, Karen (Fred) Stumpf of Darboy, Frida (Lee) Adrian of Darboy; grandchildren: Danielle (Kevin) Santry, Cole (Savannah) Anholzer, Olivia (special friend Pawan Benjamin) Stumpf, Helena Stumpf, Eric (Cecilia) Stumpf, Jason (Jen) Adrian, Vanessa (Brandon) Bennett, Marissa (Jeremy) Schiedemeyer and great grandchildren: Mason and Liam Santry, Clayton, Ella and Grayson Anholzer, Josiah Stumpf and Ruby Colquitt, Carson Adrian, and Aiden, Owen and Vera Bennett. She is further survived sisters: Margaret Willis, Pat Vande Hey, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and of course her special Capuchin Sons.
Helen was preceded in passing by her husband, her parents, parents in law Elmer Anholzer and Mary (Gosser) Anholzer Dolven; and her son Father Dan Anholzer, OFM Cap, brothers and sisters: John (Vi) De Leeuw, Chris (Adeline) De Leeuw, Joe (Stella) De Leeuw, Jim De Leeuw, Andrew “Bud” (Joan) De Leeuw Jr., Katie (John) Van Beek, Mary (Earl) Deeg, Audrey (Bill) Hopsfensperger and brothers and sisters in law: Bob Willis, Jim Vande Hey, Phyllis (Mike) Goehler, William (Della) Anholzer, John (JoAnn) Anholzer, and Helen (Bob) Young.
The family would like to thank special Caregiver Tracy Bartlett from HomeInstead as well as special friend and caregiver Kathy Wells. In addition, special thanks to the staff at St Paul Elder Services and St Paul Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of mom these last years.
There will be a visitation for Helen on Tuesday June 27, 2023, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Jansen Fargo, 204 E Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm. A funeral mass for Helen will take place on Wednesday June 28, 2023, at 11:00am at Holy Spirit Parish, 600 E Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until the start of mass. Karen Mae Benotch passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1962, the daughter of Karl and Erika Altmann.
Karen was a very personable, humble person, who was most happiest just living a simple life. She enjoyed shooting pool, tossing bean bags, and playing cribbage. Karen loved sitting on the porch or swinging on the swing with her soulmate in the front yard. Karen enjoyed going to Two Rivers and visiting the beach. She loved fishing and was the perfect first mate.
Karen had two passions in life. She loved planting flowers and plants, as well as decorating the lawn with ornaments. Take a ride down Haas Road, where she lived, and see her creations, especially at night. Karen was also passionate about her job. As the bakery manager for the Kaukauna southside Piggly Wiggly. A company that she worked 44 years for. Karen loved her job, but mostly loved her co-workers in the $$ dough business. She was very unselfish and always put her co-workers first.
Karen is survived by her mother, Erika Altman; stepfather, Norb Fuhrman; daughter, Trisha (special friend Josh); son, Erik (Robyn) Benotch; grandchildren, Skyler and McKenna; her son, Robert (special friend Lizz); as well as her two aunts, Gerda and Anne. Karen is further survived by her special friend and soulmate, Thomas Bay, and his son Benjamin Bay.
A special, special thanks to all the staff in the ICU, Room 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their kindness, understanding, and for their outstanding care and compassion during this trying time. In a world that seems to be dominated by wars, dislikes, and distrust, the treatment provided by all the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital was a breath of fresh air. The family applauds them for that and greatly thanks you for your professionalism. Thank you, again.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Karl Altmann, her brother Karl Altmann, and her brother Daniel Altmann.
As per her family’s request, there will be no services for Karen. The O’Connell Funeral Home will assist the family with all needed arrangements. Karen believed in “Live, Laugh, Love”. She was genuine and cared about people and nature. There will never be another one like Karen Benotch; she was loved by her family, her co-workers, and by all who knew her. Rest assured, she is now managing the bakery in heaven.

Karen, I was fortunate to spend our final weekend together. We listened to music that we enjoyed together, holding hands, and listening to the Brewers. Finally, Karen, I and my memory was cherished on Sunday with our last time together, touring the yard, looking at all your beautiful flowers, plants, and decorations, walking arm in arm. To the love of my life, Karen. You taught me a lot and you took good care of me, you changed me for the good. Karen Benotch, KB as I would call you, you were the perfect partner. We were and we still are a team. Lastly, to my Honey Bee, I will never, never forget you. I will always be eternally grateful and will always love you forever. unice Sievert, age 95, of Appleton, formerly of Black Creek, passed away on June 20, 2023, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Tigerton, WI at the family-owned bakery on June 13, 1928 to the late Adella (Klug) and Carl Mauthe. Eunice married Daryl Sievert on May 19, 1951. The couple enjoyed 43 years together until Daryl's passing on May 31, 1994. Eunice resided in Black Creek until moving to Appleton in 1996. Eunice and Daryl were successful business owners of Black Creek Oil Company and Eunice was a private piano teacher until the age of 90. Eunice was a gifted pianist and it brought her delight to share her love of music with her students and family. Eunice was the organist at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek for over 30 years. She played for weddings, funerals, school events and occasionally with the Ray Rice Orchestra. She received her training at the Lawrence Conservatory of Music. Eunice cherished the cottage on Kelly Lake where many happy memories were made with her husband, family, and best friend Eileen Adams. Often Eunice, her "favorite" sister Jean Adamski, and Eileen could be seen pontooning together on the lake. Eunice was an avid traveler and often went on adventures with her family. Eunice enjoyed sharing stories with her family about the days while she was growing up: having to cross the street to pump water for her folks' bakery in Black Creek; cold mornings where she and her sister Jean's breath caused frost on their quilt; sitting on her mother or dad's lap and steering the car while driving to Shiocton to deliver bakery and swimming in the Wolf River to cool off on a hot summer day before returning to Black Creek; taking her bath behind the warm bakery proof box on cold winter Saturday nights; hobos from the nearby train coming to the back door of the bakery looking for day old bread which her dad always provided; and in her teenage years climbing the Black Creek water tower with her cousin Shirley Klug; and her school friends saying they wanted to sit by her because she smelled like donuts, but she wanted to smell like perfume.
Eunice is survived by her children: Randy (Char) Sievert, Jodie (Mike Endres) Gagnow Endres; sister: Jean Adamski; brother-in-law: Veryle "Red" (Virgie) Sievert; grandchildren: Sam (Pauline) Gagnow, Jered (Ashley) Gagnow, Jodell (Ken Platten) Gagnow, Christie (Jason) Knox, Scott Endres, Liz (Justin) Olson, Chuck (Erica) Sievert; great grandchildren: Kendal and Hunter; Caitlyn; Zayd; Patrick, Phillip and Annaleigh; Carter, Gavin and Ele; and Roger and Sally.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daryl, brother Dr. Donald Mauthe, brother-in-law Silvan Adamski, son-in-law Dennis Gagnow, mother-in-law Gladys Sievert, and father-in-law Carl Sievert.
Special Thanks to: Shanice, Holly, and Joan of ThedaCare Hospice, as well as the staff at Cherry Meadows for their gentle loving care.
Visitation will begin at 9am on Thursday, July 6th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St. in Appleton. Mass will begin at 11am followed by a church luncheon. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Thomas More Parish.
