75502 | Sharon A. Vander Velden Nov 15, 1955 — Sep 6, 2023 Kimberly Sharon “Sharry” A. Vander Velden went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 6, 2023, at home after being diagnosed with COPD. Sharry was born November 15, 1955, to Jacob and Florence Lamers. She grew up with loving parents, eight siblings who she adored and graduated from Kimberly High School. Her greatest joy was her family and being a homemaker while watching her three boys grow up. She later found great pleasure and purpose in her work at the local homeless shelter and enjoying time with her grandchildren. The beauty of nature always brought her peace, and she loved gardening and being outdoors. She especially loved going for rides in the fall to see the leaves change colors. One of her favorite seasonal traditions was seeing her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes each year. Early on, Sharry looked forward to vacations at Robert’s Lake, fishing and enjoying time with friends and family there. Her enthusiasm for cooking for loved ones inspired her to create many delicious family recipes. Sharry is survived by her sons Jake (Bre) Vander Velden, Clayton (Sara) Vander Velden, and Ross Vander Velden; along with her grandchildren, Collin, Alec, Leo, Aven, Livie, and Ellie. She is also survived by her siblings Judy (Dennis) Schumacher, Diane (Pat) Piette, Al (Debbie) Lamers, Chris (Jean) Lamers, Tracey (Denise Kander) Lamers, and sisters in law Nancy Oast-Lamers, and Mary Lamers. There are also many other relatives and dear friends. Sharry was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob, and Florence Lamers, brothers Mike Lamers, Jim Lamers, and Ralph (Sam) Lamers, as well as Jim Vander Velden, the father of Sharry’s kids. She loved her family dearly and they were everything to her. She thought about them often, and they were always in her heart. She cherished her boys, grandchildren, and siblings. She enjoyed spending time with them when she was able. She knew she was loved, and we knew she loved us whole-heartedly too. Sharry leaves a legacy of love and compassion. She taught us to love people where they are at with acceptance and free of judgement. We take comfort in knowing Sharry is at peace with Jesus her lord and Savior in heaven. We will always cherish the memories we have had throughout the years. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, located at 204 East Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly. The celebration of life service will begin at 4:00 PM with a fellowship to follow. Pastor John Slotten will be presiding.
