Dana Lee Hoerning, age 50, of Neenah, died unexpectedly riding his Harley he loved- on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Dana was born in Appleton on June 12, 1973, son of Charles and the late Barbara Jean (Olson) Hoerning.

Dana had an outgoing and fearless spirit. He was the life of the party and could make anyone his friend, spreading laughs and high energy wherever he went, and never acted like a 50-year-old. At any time, he’d drop everything that he was doing to help his friends or family. Regardless of the task, Dana was able to figure things out as he went and made certain that things were completely done the right way, his way. Much like the pitbulls he raised, Dana had a tough exterior but a heart of gold. His compassion for animals was endless; breeding and raising pits for over 30 years, owned cats, a snake, and even nursing baby squirrels back to health. No matter how many times his family and friends argued with him, they were always forgiven. Dana will be remembered by all for loving fiercely and living life to its fullest, up until the very end. Dana was a true original; a kind and loving devoted father, son, brother, and uncle.

This training would serve him well since he translated it into snow skiing where he became quite prolific. Brian finished his undergraduate studies at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School.

He spent his time practicing law, most recently in Charlotte, North Carolina. During his time in North Carolina, he was also a volunteer fire fighter for Teega Kay. He later moved to Boca Raton, FL. Joseph John Jochman passed away, peacefully, on August 14, 2023. He is loved and celebrated by many friends and family. Joe and Sharon raised three daughters in Port Washington. Carolyn, Julie, and Katie will dearly miss their wonderful father, who was kind, patient, funny, supportive and always there for them. He remains their hero. His grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren and Elle were blessed to have a grandfather who was their greatest cheerleader and who was silly and ready to provide encouragement. He was a role model to three sons-in-law, Thomas, Sean and Brian, both as a man and as a father.

Joe was born on October 18, 1939, in Appleton, Wisconsin. His parents, Joe and Ethel Jochman, had seven children. Joe’s brothers, Charlie, Tom, and Don, and his sister, Betty, preceded him in death. Joe’s sisters, Linda and Barb, remember the brother that they loved as intelligent with an incredible sense of humor. Joe was also an uncle to the many children of his siblings, all of whom will miss his presence at family picnics.

Joe attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1966. Joe spent over forty years practicing intellectual property law. He helped countless clients achieve their dreams of patenting their inventions and securing their trademarks. When asked about his career, Joe would always say that he had no regrets. He loved his job, and he was well respected by the members of his firm, Andrus Intellectual Property Law. Prior to entering private practice, Joe worked in the patent departments of Rexnord Corporation and Johnson Controls.

Joe had many interests that he enjoyed when he wasn’t in the office (which, often, was seven days a week!). He was a lover of classical music. After a long day at the office, he was known to make the family a vat of popcorn and retreat to the living room to listen to the music of one of his favorite composers. Joe was an avid and accomplished fly fisherman. He relished the serenity and precision of the sport and would travel all over Wisconsin in search of a catch, which he always released. Later in life, Joe decided that he would begin speed skating, which he had not done since his youth. He took lessons at the Pettit Center and was an inspiration for his grandson, Nathan, who followed in his grandfather’s “skate steps”.

Services will be held on Friday, September 8, 223 at 1:00 PM, at the Guardian Angel Chapel, St. Camillus, 10100 West Bluemound Road, Wauwatosa, Wiscosnin 53226.

Renée Denise Schubart, age 57, of Neenah, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 7, 1966, in Appleton, to Kenneth and Marcia (Thorpe) Spaulding. Renée married Mark David Schubart on May 6, 1989.

Renée cherished her time at her grandma's house, relishing moments spent playing with her older sister and cousins, engaging in childhood sports like basketball, volleyball, and softball, and pursuing her passion for dance. From an early age, she began collecting pandas, amassing an impressive collection that showcased her love for the animal. Excelling in school, she had a desire for knowledge; that was consistent throughout her childhood and into her career.

In 1984, Renée embarked on her college journey to study while competing in basketball and softball at Mount Mary College and ultimately earned a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and Behavioral Sciences. Her career trajectory shifts prompted her to pursue additional education at Cardinal Stritch University, where she obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration in 2014. Renée embarked on a fulfilling career as an Occupational Therapist, spending 15 years at Hillhaven/Vencor before joining Thedacare for a remarkable 13-year tenure, where she held five distinct positions, culminating as the Executive Director of Heritage and Peabody Manor. Her final career chapter saw her contributing her expertise as a Continuous Improvement Specialist at Network Health for 5.5 years.

Renée wore many hats in her life, including daughter, wife, mother, grandma, coach, mentor, and caregiver. She left an unforgettable mark on all those fortunate enough to cross her path, and she lived her life with no regrets. Her seven-month battle with pancreatic cancer was marked by unwavering optimism, unshakable realism, remarkable bravery, and enduring courage. In her final weeks, she surrounded herself with loved ones, engaging in her favorite hobbies and activities.

Renée had a deep appreciation for gardening, the beauty of trees and flowers, hiking, the serenity of running water and waterfalls, leisurely days on the beach, and chaotic card games with her family. She cherished family vacations in Door County, meticulously planning every detail, hour by hour, and sharing stories of her own youth while discovering new places. Renée loved baking and cooking, nurturing her family through food. An avid stitcher and puzzler, she often worked on these hobbies while cheering on the Packers, Brewers, or Bucks. She had a passion for exploring new destinations and immersing herself in nature. Caring for others came naturally to her, and she found pure joy in it. She loved to dance the night away and sing along with her favorite artists—Prince, Meatloaf, ABBA, and Queen.

Renée epitomized kindness, compassion, selflessness, and gentleness. She
consistently placed others' needs ahead of her own, pouring her heart into her family.

Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, evident in the sleepovers and day trip adventures they shared. She always had a new toy, activity, or game ready for the twins and even sent them surprises through Amazon upon request. Holidays were a special time for Renée, as she adorned her home with uniquely creative decorations, thoughtful gifts, and engaging games for her children. She never missed one of her children's sporting events or dance competitions, proudly serving as their #1 fan, all-time upporter, and most enthusiastic cheerleader. Renée was an extraordinary and successful mother—a comforting presence, a voice of reason, and an endless source of love and support for her children. Her entire being was devoted to her family.

Renée's life mission was to make a positive impact on everyone she encountered. She strived to help others recognize their self-worth and feel important and cherished. It is her hope that all who knew her believe they were touched by her positive influence.

Renée is survived by her husband, Mark; two sons, Kai Schubart (Jennifer) and Kenny Schubart, and one daughter, Raquel Schubart, (Sam Marhefke). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Kolton, and Addison Schubart; as well as her siblings, Rhonda (Spaulding) Ashman (Steve); niece, Raissa Ashman; and parents, Kenneth and Marcia Spaulding.

Renée was preceded in death by her nephews, Rhett and Rillian Ashman; uncles, Douglas, Dennis, and Ronald Thorpe; and mother and father-in-law, Kai Paul Jr. and Carole Schubart.

Angela "Angie" M. Clark, 91, went peacefully to her eternal home on September 6, 2023. She was born on April 30, 1932 in Kaukauna and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.

Angie and her husband, Earl, raised their three children in Appleton while enjoying most of their time at their cottage on the Cloverleaf Lakes with many close friends. They eventually built their retirement home there, a home she lived in until her passing. She loved to travel with her close cronies. One particular trip she waited outside Brett Favre's home and bar hoping to meet her favorite player. Angie was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She enjoyed cheering her grandchildren on in their many sports and activities. You could often find her sitting on her porch or on her daughter's pontoon boat enjoying her favorite drink during the summer months. She loved to go to the Lox Club and have Joe make her his famous old fashioneds. Angie found joy in volunteering at her local food pantry and meeting new people there. Angie had a spunky personality. You could always count on her to tell you how it was and she enjoyed bantering back and forth with her family members, especially Trevor.

She is further survived by her two daughters Amy (Michael) Miller and Judy (Jeffrey) Polzin; grandchildren Jessica (Robert) Derks, Christina (Nathan) Howard, Jason (Katy) Miller, Emma Polzin (Trevor Laak), and Aiden Polzin; great-grandchildren Sloane, Sutton, and Crewe Derks, Kolton and Brinley Howard, and Hudson and Memphis Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her son, Jeff Clark; her brothers Charles and Leonard Sikora; her sister Esther Sikora; her sister-in-law Joan Sikora, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold and Jean Clark and Ralph and Betty Clark. As well as many cherished friends.

The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to Angie's friend, Donna Dohr, as well as Amy Olson for helping take such great care of her.

Angie always joked that most of her friends were dead already so in lieu of a service please have a drink in her honor.

Mark A. Grunwald, also known to many as “Gruny”, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2023, at home. Born June 16, 1956, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, he was the youngest son of late Ralph and Rose Mary Grunwald. Mark graduated from Oshkosh North High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business. In September 2022, Mark retired after 11 years of owning Mark and Susie’s Piggly Wiggly, and 47 years of working at other Piggly Wiggly locations.

Mark loved and was so proud of his children Sara, Michael and Jennifer, and he enjoyed watching them grow into successful adults. He cherished the little moments with them, whether it was chatting with Sara about current events, watching Michael coach his son’s baseball games, or going to the movies with Jennifer. While his retirement was short, Grandpa Gruny’s greatest accomplishment during this time was cheering on his grandson Eli at every baseball game he played this summer. And, his granddaughter Gemma could always count on him having a pocket full of fruit snacks.

Mark was dedicated to his work, and with the help of his wife Susie, created a community- and customer-focused business with Mark and Susie’s Piggly Wiggly. Always going above and beyond for their customers and others, Mark prided himself in helping people. Mark also enjoyed the special relationships he had with all of those he worked with over the years.

Anyone who talked to Mark, knew his love of sports, especially baseball and the Milwaukee Brewers. One of his favorite pastimes was to watch, listen, or go to Brewers games with family and friends. Mark liked to stay active, and in retirement he took up biking which quickly became part of his daily routine, riding all over Oshkosh.

Tom Myers “Big Tom”, age 64, passed away at his cottage, spending time doing what he loved with his best friend, after suffering from anaphylactic shock due to several bee stings. He was born on October 30, 1958, son of Ernie and Ann (Dieter) Myers.

Tom was one of a kind. Anyone who knew him would agree no truer words have been spoken. He was outspoken, loud, hilarious and had a very sarcastic sense of humor. Tom also had a heart of gold and was extremely generous. His larger than life personality lit up the room when he was around. If he liked you, he had a nickname for you and would probably poke fun at you about something. Tom probably drank too much and swore too much, but if you ever needed anything, he was your guy. As a jack-of-all trades, no project was too large for Tom. He generously donated many hours volunteering in the Little Chute community, most notably MC-ing for the Diamond Club fundraiser.

Tom’s love of baseball was unmatched, especially following the Brewers. He also loved the north woods, hunting, fishing, gardening and his beloved dogs. Tom loved being a grandpa and would send his grandkids dad jokes regularly.

Tom retired from PSI a few years ago but did many things in his lifetime. He built several homes and even ran a meat market. His “Little Chute Meat Market” out of his home also was a favorite thing of Tom’s. He smoked many slabs of meat and produced wonderful meals for his family and friends.

There will never be another Tom Myers, that we are all positive. This tragedy has left everyone heartbroken, but we all take comfort knowing Tom lived his life to the fullest. There was never a dull moment and countless smiles and good times were shared through the years between his family and friends. Tom will be dearly missed.

Tom is survived by his children: Erin (Mike) Hietpas, Zach (Deanna) Pingel, Jacob (Daya) Myers, Logan Pingel and Leighton Myers; grandchildren: Laine and Chance Hietpas, Maverick Pingel and Marnie Myers; parents, Ernie and Ann Myers; siblings: Kathy (Joe) Vonckx, Beth (Bert) Kolz and Ed (Paula) Myers; in-laws: Kris (Bill) Fischer and Brian (Jenny) Van Lankveldt; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends.

The situation our family feared happened on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Adam John Reiter, age 44, lost his battle with addiction and depression. He struggled for many years. Adam was loved and supported by many throughout his life. His fight is over and we are grateful that when he died, he knew we loved him.

Adam was born on May 22, 1979 in Appleton, WI, to June and John Reiter. His childhood was filled with outdoor activities including fishing, water skiing and tubing, four wheeling, and enjoying the beauty around him, especially at the family cottage on Roberts Lake. Being outdoors and enjoying nature carried into his adult years. Adam was obsessed with watching the sun set and he captured many beautiful ones with his camera. Taking photos and playing his guitar were things he did daily. He also enjoyed hikes with his mother and chats while drinking coffee. Adam loved sports, particularly the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Bucks. He often recalled great plays from many years ago yet he didn't remember where he left his coffee cup! Adam's smile was contagious and his laughter infectious.

Adam is survived by his parents, June and John Reiter of Town of Rome; sister Amy (Brian) Koch of Fremont; brother Matthew of Appleton; sister-in-law Chris Reiter of Menasha; nieces Abby (Chris) Van Handel, Alayna Koch, Hope Reiter; nephews Sam Koch, Josh Reiter; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Mike, maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

We are heartbroken and saddened in our loss but take comfort in knowing that Adam no longer suffers, is surrounded by love and light and is with his brother Mike. We know we will be with both of them again one day.

The family will hold a private service for Adam. They ask that you pray for healing and be kind to those you encounter. You never know what someone is going through or experienced in their life.

Many in our society judge those who struggle with the terrible disease of addiction. Addicts don't choose to be addicted; they carry a gene that is ignited like a fire and grows out of control. An addict can not control the fire and becomes consumed by it. Many are able to put the fire out for a time but the fire is often reignited more than once in a lifetime.

Odds are that someone you know struggles with addiction, whether it be to drugs, alcohol, exercise or gambling, to name a few and the person needs compassion and empathy, not judgement. Educate yourself on addiction so you can better understand how an addict's mind works.

Resources are available if you or someone you know struggles with addiction. Please reach out and ask for help! There is always hope for recovery and a better life. Every day is a fresh start. The families that have lost someone to addiction believe that you can and will make it. It is never too late!

Paul Adam Jaeger, 54, Town of Maple Creek, Wisconsin, was welcomed into heaven on August 20, 2023. Born February 22, 1969, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Ken and Ruth (Kroening) Jaeger. Paul was the second of four rowdy Jaeger boys. Paul is survived by Dawn the "Love of His Life for over 22 years", their daughter Olivia, father Ken Jaeger, brothers Jef (Michelle) Jaeger (Greendale), Barry Jaeger (Lynnette) (Waukesha), nephews Maxx and Dorian (Beaver Dam), father and mother-in-law Roger and Shirley Spiegel, brother and sister-in-law James and Carmen Salinas, nephew Jesse, aunts and uncles Darryl (Dianne) Jaeger, (cousins Eric and Stephanie), Steve (Ruth) Jaeger, (cousins John and Kelly), Aunt Kay (Ron) Hinkens, (cousin Joey), Tom Leininger (cousin).

Preceded in death by his mother Ruth Ann Jaeger and his brother Bryan Jaeger (recently passed in April of 2023).

Paul at an early age was introduced to playing bass guitar. His family was musically talented: father was a singer with Paul's uncles ("Kenny King and The Be Bops"); mom played piano, brothers were musicians. Jef (drums), Bryan (bass), Barry (drums).

In the early 90's Paul moved to Los Angeles, CA, to pursue his love for music and entertainment, as a professional artist with his charismatic stage persona. He played bass for many genres of music from heavy rock, classic rock, country and jazz. Over the years he played in original bands and cover bands: Sonic Circus; Diamond and Steele; Lexington (original band); Jimi Nelson & The Drifting Cowboys; Gregory Wolfe's "Tribute To Rod Stewart"; Tailspin.360; The Resins; and many more. Paul performed with Tuff on a U.S.A Tour; he also traveled with a cover band overseas and entertained the troops on a U.S.O. Tour.

In 2009, Paul and Dawn chose to move back to Wisconsin for family circumstances. He continued performing and playing music throughout the state.

In addition to Paul's music career, he worked in Sales and Distribution as an Account Manager selling screen print supplies nationwide for well over 30 years.

Paul was an avid reader and an excellent cook. He loved watching sports events, especially the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed deer hunting (two years ago he filled two deer tags within minutes). Paul enjoyed being outside with nature. He cherished spending time with family, friends, bandmates, brothers and sisters, and his animals. He truly appreciated the simple things in life.

For those of us who knew Paul, he will never be forgotten for his calm and charming disposition, "the voice of reason," and his unforgettable smile. He always had a great ear for listening and a no-nonsense approach which we referred to as "Paul Time". Paul's faith in our heavenly Father was where he found his strength. Paul was a wonderful daddy. Before his daughter was born, Paul kneeled and privately prayed for the healthy birth of his daughter. His genuine kindness to others was sincere. We are certain he is sharing his smile in heaven. There is no doubt that Paul will live in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known him. A beautiful soul gone too soon!

When time comes to say good-bye,
You shall see a teardrop in my eye.
Looking at moments we once shared;
Representing how much I cared.
So when push comes to shove,
I just thought I'd let you know:
Inside I will never let you go.

Written for Paul By: Dawn (1989)
